North Carolina Central

Didn't they lose in the quarters to Baylor?

Yes, they lost the first game in the tournament but won the regular season conference title. Just seemed like that team really overachieved in winning the regular season title and for whatever reason didn't have much left after accomplishing that.

You're right, superior teams never get upset in the NCAA tourney...

No disrespect to your opinion, but I sure hope the team is respecting NCC a lot more than you are...

Some of you need to give the team more credit than you do. Of course they're going to take them more seriously than I do. It's their duty to.

This should scare any team

"ISU has a trio of scorers averaging in double figures as 6-6, 220 senior Melvin Ejim tops the squad averaging 18.1 points per contest. The Big 12 Player of the Year also averages 8.5 boards per game. The Big 12 Championship's Most Outstanding Player, 6-4 senior DeAndre Kane is second on the team averaging 17.0 points per game while ripping down 6.7 boards and dishing out 5.8 assists. The final double-figure scorer is 6-7, 240 pound sophomore Georges Niang, as he averaged 16.5 points per contest for the Cyclones. Freshman point guard Monte Morris is No. 1 in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 5.4."

I see the word 'illustrious' in there, and it reminds me of an obvious question. How did your program do in D-II before moving up? I'm guessing awfully well.

That was a beautifully written article for pumping fans up. Whoever wrote that did a nice job.

I would guess it was the Sports Info. Director who wrote it up.

I'm pretty sure I heard they won a National Championship in D2.

Their coach sounds like a smart and good guy. Too bad they have to face us first. I also think that people give too much credit to the beginning of the season. Most teams do improve as the season goes on (not all) and some improve at a faster rate and also by more than others.

While NC State got beat by NCCU in OT at the beginning of the year, you have to take it with a grain of salt only because NC State has improved a ton since that time. They started out the ACC 1-4 and as of a few months ago, nobody expected them to make the NCAA tournament. They beat UN Greensboro by only 4 at UNCG while 6-26 Presbyterian of the Big South (2-14) beat the same team (UNCG) at UNCG by 21. A lot can change over time.

Remember when Mississippi Valley State almost beat us when we had Royce White? Beginning of the year only means so much which is why it's more important to see how a team finished off the year.

If I had to make a guess, they'll play us closely in the first 10-20 minutes and we'll pull away in the 2nd half and win by 7-15 points. Definitely not a team to look past, but it will take a really bad night for us to lose IMO.

They've got a winning record against Hampton which is more than we can say! :plaugh:

I guess NCCU coach knows Fred pretty well.

Coach Moton can't really believe that they have the 10th best defense in the country, can he?

Interesting to hear them talk about not wanting to play in Raleigh. I would think they would get a ton of fan support if they were playing nearby, especially if NC or NCSt were also playing there. At times, it sounded more like a road trip to a warm spot for them than a tournament game.

Warn, If you see a post with the name getupram or getupeagle, he/she is NOT from or a fan of NCCU, do not reply to any of his/her post.

So, what is the story here? It seems like this isn't the first time you have encountered this poster.
