Student Section

Bingo. Can't change students who don't care. Some are just ok with going to 3 games and paying $120.

Which we need to take advantage of by doubling up on that and having students pick up their tickets before games and reselling all of the no shows. These no shows could turn in to heroes for our booster clubs and athletic department.

Not with that attitude you can't.

If you see someone like this rounding up students... it wasn't me

No I completely understand the concept of marginal fans, I just think your reasons don't make sense. They are mad that they had to wait in line a couple times so they don't come to any more games even though they don't have to wait in line? Add to that they can show up at the tip if they want and sit in the lower deck.

I do think the problem is marginal fans and the reason for bad attendance has no more depth to it than students not caring.
They aren't my reasons, they are reasons that I get from other students.

While I think their reasons are stupid those are their reasons among others.

Top 3 Reasons
- Lines (decreased excitement around team not that there are always lines)
- Extremely difficult to sell tickets (transfer fee, printing fee, etc.)
- People don't want to buy tickets that don't guarantee admittance

There was someone that just said they paid $40 and didn't even get into the Iowa game. Would you pay for something that doesn't guarantee you anything? These aren't great reasons, but they are very valid to some. You need to get that or we will never fix the problem.

The biggest of them all Cycsk! :jimlad:

Seriously, 2015, how do you think this year compares to last in terms of late season student attendance? It seems worse this year which really surprises me. Why do you think student attendance has dropped off so much after such great student support earlier in the season?

Huh? They already bought the tickets. That isn't the issue here.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on the rest. I still say that if they actually cared in the first place, they wouldn't be so turned off by an issue that only affects a couple of games each year.

Apparently it's our job to track down all the students skipping games, grab them by the ear, and drag them into Hilton.

OKAY.

Honestly it has dropped off, but only slightly. If you recall last year there were several games where the upper deck was barely filled. But I can't give a specific reason other than the ones given such as the casual fans hearing about all the people being turned away and them not wanting to deal with that. It only takes one story of people getting turned away to turn off the casual fans.

If we had the same schedule as we did last year, the attendance earlier in the year would've sucked too. We just had some really big games to start the year off. But some of the lower tier games such as UMKC barely had the attendance that we're getting now in conference play.

I can't make excuses for the students though, there is no legitimate reason that the students aren't showing up.

So there have been 3 games where there have been long lines. every other game including 3 top 25 conf opp. you could of shown up at game time and got a seat.

YOU DONT GET THE POINT!!! IF EVERYONE SHOWS UP THERE ARENT SEATS LEFT. SOMEONE HAS TO BE LEFT OUTSIDE IF THE SEATS ARE GOING TO BE FULL.

Actually it is more than it appears because they oversold more tickets this year than last year.

Does the coverage in the Iowa State Daily make a difference?

What does CAC do to help? Do they lead any social media efforts to get students to attend?

The only social media things they do it tell everyone to vote for them being the best student section and organization of all time and how awesome they are.

I'm talking about others who weren't able to get tickets.

I don't really get how you can disagree with what people are saying. It isn't what I think the reasons are it is what I have gathered as a student talking to people.

I would say less than 5% of students read The Daily on a regular basis especially after "Just Sayin" got banned.

CAC does little, they have some social media presence but they honestly should be spamming the **** out of people's feeds near game time.
