Nowhere and Everywhere
My wife is a bit of a workout addict. She mainly runs and exercises in our workout room in the basement. However she has stated that she is getting bored with it and wants to try some new things. She has done some classes in the past where it was a couple days a week but isn't sure that will work for her with our schedules currently.

Does anyone know of any places in the Ankeny/Ames area that you can buy a 10 class gift card and she can drop into classes as her schedule allows but not have to join or enroll full time.

She is not a flowers type of girl for Valentines day and she loves to workout as her break away from the kids. Thought this would be a nice vday gift for her.

And before it gets said I'm not worried one bit about this making her think I think she's fat. I've given her fitness gifts in the past and she loves them.

Lucky bastard!

My wife just started going to CrossFit in North Ankeny with me today. I've been going since September and absolutely love it. Former Cyclone WR Jack Whitver owns it. I know that they have a punch card membership. You can check it out here.

Ahhhh look, Chris joined a cult.

I kid I kid, I would love to do crossfit, but i would die.

Ames Raquet and Fitness has 3 1-hr personal training sessions for $130. That may not quite be what you are wanting.

You can buy a 10 class card at Ignite Yoga in Ames, it is up in Somerset so on the North side of town. I would love to try it (female here), and you might hit a class with the MBB team. :)

3 personal trainer session at ARFC is not going to help her. That's 3 hours of new stuff/the trainer is going to try to sell her more stuff. That's why they sell those. I would go with the Crossfit North Ankeny option as coach Neutzman is a good man and knows his stuff. They do have punch cards for sessions.

Neutz is a HUGE Iowa State fan too. Lots of former Cyclones work out there. It's a cool spot.

Don't do it. She's going to start going to these classes and have all these dudes tell her great job, you're an awesome gal, way to kick butt on those burpes today and then she's going to come home and see you spread out watching an ISU game with your hand down your pants drinking a beer.

Pretty soon she's going to start going out for drinks with her class and within 18 months she'll have left you for one of the instructors that tells her she can do anything, she deserves better and she needs to do what makes her feel good. Then some dude with a neck tattoo will be plowing your fields, Farmin (if you know what I mean).

90% of all my divorce clients started from a CrossFit esque class. True story.

My wife does Crossfit in our 1 garage stall (have a nice setup there), she used to do it at the one here in Ames but the price is expensive and we had the stuff to do it at home. I used to do it with her once and a while but it goes against everything I learned while playing football (Crossfit uses momentum, especially on pullups, and I can't buy into that).

I'm cool with that. If this doesn't happen she gets in even better shape than she already is (which might be hard) which is a score for me!! And if this scenario does play out then that will open up more time for me to go fishing, which is a score for me!!!!

Either way I win!!!

Agreed on crossfit. Everytime I watch the crossfit games on espn i always cringe. It is exactly what our strength coach told us not to do.

I do P90X classes in North Ankeny by Cabaret 6 days a week. Sundays off. Probably 75/25 females to males. Chest/shoulders, plyos, arms/back, kickboxing, legs/back/core, and saturday yoga. They have a 3 day a week option as well. 4:20, 5:20, 6:20 am classes and 5:30 pm class but I think the 5:20 and 5:30 are full. I can check if you'd like

Farrell's currently has a Groupon for 50% off their next session. Plus she has a chance to win $1000 at the end of the ten weeks.

Show her some new excercises that can be done in the bedroom.
