Sportscenter is saying that Clemens is now facing a criminal investigation by the Dept. of Justice into perjury charges.

He won't do any real time and no matter what happens that pompous *** will never admit a thing.

I think if they can prove he lied they'll put him away, and rightfully so. This is all blowing up in his face quite nicely. I saw McNamee is filing for the defamation suit against him to be dropped, and for Clemens' lawyer to be thrown off the case because he's represented both Pettitte and Clemens. This is quickly becoming the best reality show on tv.

If he would have just had the intelligence Andy Pettitte does and just admitted it, said he screwed up, he could have avoided the splitter the government just threw at him.

I think all of this hooplah about Clemens is getting old. Congress has nothing better to do than figure out if he used steroids or not?? They want to force criminal charges on him??

I feel like I want to force criminal charges against our government for wasting our d@mn time and tax money!!!!!!!!!!

I must agree, baseball has been about cheating for a long time. Corked bats, spitballs, foul lines that tilt one way or the other depending on if the home team likes to bunt. There has been so many. How many hours and tax dollars have already been spent. Lets end this crap, I for one am so damn tired of hearing about it.

These guys are breaking the laws and should be prosecuted. They are potentially taking jobs away from law abiding players since roster spots are limited. These type of individuals are also public figures and with the benefits they are so eager to accept they also need to the responsibility and the consequences when they don't act properly on those responsibilities. The one thing I would like to see is that Congress pass laws to charge fees to those that are found to be guilty as a way to pay for the cost of prosecuting. I would think these guys would be less likely to cheat knowing they could lose money. Right now it's all upside... take the drugs and maybe play better = more money, and worst case you get caught and are embarrassed / spend a couple months in jail. If they had to forfeit all monies made while cheating and could never play again then most likely the problem would permanently go away.

Would also like to see stiff penalties to the clubs. Pro sports is big money and thus punishments made for normal people are just not effective. They need to have punishment that matters to these players and teams.

This has nothing to do with whether or not he took steroids... This has to do with lying under oath in front of congress. It is called perjury, and either Clemens or McNamee are guilty of said crime.

If Roger Clemens had half a brain, he would not have testified, or pleaded the 5th just like McGuire did.

People still believe that he did steroids, even though he has been denying it, so he gained NOTHING from lying to congress.
