Flying to Minnesota during the game Saturday and trying to get father in law to tape the game. Anyone know what channel for up there? He's got Charter FWIW.

And yes, I already looked at the Big 12 channel lineup and none are Minnesota channels. I'd just flip around till I found it but I'd just like to tell him a channel # or it might not happen.

Thanks.

I was in Minneapolis last weekend and the Texas game was on the "Big 12 Network". I ended up having to walk into 4 different bars down by Target Field before I found one that had the channel I needed and it was in standard definition. The channel ended up being something like 772 on Direct TV. (I missed the first half, got to see the 2nd. Lucky me)

I think you're going to be screwed because in order to get the game up there, at least for the Texas game, you needed to have the premium sports package for Direct TV. If your father in law has the premium sports package with Charter, I'm sure he'd be able to find it somewhere but it's going to be on some obscure channel.

Good Luck!

the irony is you will be what a 3 hour drive from Ames and may not see the game , 2000 miles out in L.A all the Big 12 Network Basketball games on Saturday are televised in HD on Channel 56 KDOC over the air here in the L.A area. They show SEC Network football during the Fall. Not sure why they do it, but glad they do.

Note to Cyclone Media and Marketing folks: Television and Radio Coverage SUCKS. It has SUCKED for years. I know most of the coverage is negotiated beyond your control.....but it should not be this much work for those of us who care to try to find it on the tele. Lord, it is 2014, and it usually takes me 20 minutes every third day to use some freaking Rosetta Stone to figure out what network corresponds to what channel in what town. Could you help out. You should have learned in that sports marketing 101 class that people become fans of what they see. Hannibal Lector got it. Kids are becoming Hawkeye fans because they are on tv. I do like the Cyclones network, btw. I am not all negative.

That is KIMT in Mason City which is the local CBS affiliate. I believe it is channel 3 over the air.

Have to pretty much agree with you on this. It use to be the games were televised for the fans every Saturday on WOI-TV Ames-Des Moines which was owned by Iowa State University and originally funded by the Federal Government. It was then sold by the Board of Regents (*astards). The Fans are at the mercy of negotiations of television rights between the networks and University owned TV contracts that you see everywhere now. (CycloneTV) It's not about the fans anymore, its about who can make the most money off the fans. Pretty sad IMO. (Good for John Walters )

Yeah, and WOI was the only CTN channel for quite awhile. Folks who lived in Cedar Rapids got the game on tape-delay, if they were lucky. Sioux City occasionally got the game live. Nobody outside of Iowa had a chance until the Big Eight got on board with Raycom for conference game broadcasts.

Now, there's an online portal (cyclones.tv), a dedicated TV channel (Mediacom), a network of affiliates that reaches outside the conference footprint (Big 12 syndication), two different online apps (WatchESPN and ESPN3), and multiple national networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU).

The fact that people "can't find" what channel the game is on speaks more to their laziness than to any alleged ineptitude by the rights-holders. The Big 12 releases a list of affiliates for EVERY Big 12 Network game. It's right there, on the conference website, in black and white, in the weekly press release -- usually at least two days prior to the game.

That there are still folks out there who wish "every game was on channel 5, just like the good old days" blows my mind. You want nice facilities and well-paid coaches? Well, local TV sure isn't going to foot the bill for it.

BS! Prime recruit and alumni area like Chicago and I can only get online (ESPN3)...seriously bad coverage. I see all kinds of crap conference games but very limited bigxii. Of course with the exception of TX as I see every women's handball game due to their network.
