Should McCown start when Cutler returns?

McCown played well last night, but don't discount how much a crappy Dallas defense had to do with that. McCown had at least three throws that should have been picked off, but the bumbling Cowboys couldn't bring in. The Dallas D is epically bad. That said, the Bears offense is pretty special when it's clicking.

As a fantasy owner of McCown, I'd say definitely. I don't care who the franchise guy is, don't mess with a good thing. McCown is clicking and the Bears cannot afford Cutler easing back into the position.

Also, if Tressman is smart he'd leave in McCown. It's a no lose situation. No one would complain about him playing the hot hand. Can you imagine the pitchforks if Cutler were to start and they lose and miss the playoffs? (as a lions fan I have no faith in them winning out)

As soon as Romo or Shawn Lee took a good hit (turned out to be Lee) Dallas was going to fold like a cheap lawn chair.

Cutler has to be ready physically, take all the practice reps or they won't change the QB.

McCown has played pretty solid all season. Plus he has only thrown 1 int. Cutler in that span probably would have had 8 or so. Cultler is easily the most overrated qb in the league.

Pretty unfair to compare the two, Cutler was winning till he started getting dinged up.

He was also playing when the team had a semblance of a defense, not in a guys off the street match-up with Dallas.

Not sure what the stats are after this week but before this week the Bears offense was averaging 28 pts with Cutler and 22 pts with McCown. It does hurt his value though as Trestman has proven to be an offensive guru

As long as the Bears can keep the players surrounding McCown that are allowing him to be successful, I'd be fine with the Bears trading Cutler for some draft picks. This would also allow them to spend some money in free agency.

McCown is playing well but I believe all but one of this starts have been against the defenses ranked 21st or worst against the pass.

The thing I like about McCown is he limits his boneheaded throws to 1-2 per game (got lucky last night he didn't have at least 2 picks) where as Cutler is usually 4-5. That said, I still think Cutler starts if 100% healthy.

He would be impossible to trade. He is a free agent at the end of the year.

Good point :) Not enough coffee yet.

That makes the decision much more difficult as far as the contract goes. Seeing how he played well at the beginning of the season when healthy, I think you have to give him the long term deal he wants.

Last two games were against two of the worst pass defenses in the league and St Louis isn't far behind so I think his numbers might be slightly skewed at least.

No. McCown has played well, but Cutler is much better. They interviewed players after the game and they all said Cutler is the guy and will start when healthy. McCown should have thrown 3 picks last night if the Cowboys could catch the ball and was bailed out by Jeffrey being the freak he is.

I actually think Cutler is underrated.

Cutler is by far a better QB. His arm strength and accuracy are superb.

Even so, he's been injured every year he's been in Chi-town. Time to cut him loose and have some room under the salary cap to beef the D back up with some free agents and draft picks. Some guys are just injury prone. (Mike Brown)
