A little surprising but there are some good 1B bats on the FA market this offseason. They get a major upgrade at 2B, get a ton of money off their books and free up some cash to spend on a FA. Not a bad move at all.
The new money isnt going to FA, its going to lock up Scherzer and Cabrera.
Dumb move for Texas, Fielder had the greatest RH hitter maybe ever behind him, hitting in the rocking chair, and still couldn't hit, and i think he still has 180 mill going his way. Kinsler was going to be a bench player this year for Texas so its good for him. But, damn Texas, i know you need power. This works out well for Detroit as there may be somebody on base now when Cabrera comes up.

Only surprised someone was willing to take on as much of Fielder's contract that the Rangers' did. Tigers now have a shot at resigning Scherzer
And become a lot less of a defensive liability at 3B. He and V-Mart can switch off between 1B and DH.
