Why would anyone do anything but blitz the hell out of us every game. We have proven again, and again, and again, and again, and again we have no idea how to game plan against a blitz.

No point wearing themselves out, so opponents pace themselves. We can't move on 1st or 2nd, so just let that mess happen, then blitz on 3rd to close the deal.
Someone with enough guts in the media needs to ask Rhoads this very question.
"Hey coach, opposing defenses are regularly putting all 11 guys within 8 yds of the line of scrimmage and blitzing you on nearly every play. Why have you not been able to exploit this? A good offense would be drooling at the thought of this, and would destroy these teams with all kinds of plays designed to beat the blitz, but you never do. Why is that?".
If you watch todays game, Oklahoma was not blitzing much in the first half and we were having success. The 2nd half they brought the house on about every play and the **** hit the fan. Why can't we exploit a full out blitz?? I just don't get it??
The only reason why an opposing DC should not bring consistent pressure is to allow ISU to have enough success that CPR keeps Mess as OC.

because ISU does not know how to attack the blitz. Look at what OU did today when ISU brought everyone up to the line to stop the run. They audibled into a running play that attacked the gap created by the blitz. Of course it helps if you are a horrible blitzing Team the telegraphs where you are blitzing and then when the ball is not snapped right way stay in on the line so the other teams knows where to run away from the blitz.
It also helps the other team when ISU never, ever throws the ball down field over the middle, the QB can't hit an open guy. How many times today did GR throw to the TE crossing over the middle 5 yards downfield? By the time the tight end crosses over the middle a WR could be 12 yards down field on a skinny post. The OL got overrun a few times today, but there were lots of times where there was enough time to throw down field.

All season, I think the only time our QBs have checked out of a play themselves at the LOS was to change to a running play. Our system of lining up then having pretty much any/all play-changes directed by the sideline has been poor during pretty much most of CPRs tenure.

The lack of a good QB is why teams have so much success blitzing against us. It's pretty much that simple. A good QB will make a team pay for blitzing...we don't have one (healthy anyway) that can do it. Its not play calling..its QB play.
For 5 years though? You'd think you would be able to scheme out of that a little bit over a 5 year period, especially with the continuity in the coaching staff.
Some of it is play calling. Why doesn't the offensive coordinator put in hot reads to attack blitzes? Most college teams telegraph their blitzes, or at least hint that they are coming. Does Mess not trust his receivers and QB to be on the same page and understand when to switch to those hot reads? Does he even think about installing them?
Frustrating we have not improved one bit in this area all season. Move/roll the pocket and get the QB outside to avoid the rush.
I'm 60 years old and I could throw the passes needed to break the blitz. My gawd our coaching staff is clueless.
