Don't blame the incredibly anemic offense or the lack of playmakers.....the refs did not affect the outcome of our game today. PLEASE!

Final score: 21-17

Let's see - 33 yard pass play where the receiver that caught the pass came from out of bounds to catch the ball. Then on the TD they "missed" a blatant hold.

Yes. Yes they did affect the outcome of our game today.

I know a couple of weeks ago, John Walters had a stat that ISU had gained their 1st first down of the year via penalty. At that point, most Big 12 teams were in double figures in the same stat. That study would be good.

We got one more 1st down by penalty today, so that puts us up to 3 on the year after we got 2 against Oklahoma State. K-State was only penalized once for 10 yards against us, so nothing there.

By the way, we still haven't had a defensive pass interference call against one of our opponents yet. I hope we can go the entire season without one.....that would be truly amazing.

If we can't get unbiased and/or qualified officials for our games - And obviously we cannot...

Is it too much to ask for an official that can actually pronounce the name of the team they are screwing?

"Time out Oww-Uhh State"

Maybe for balance, next time we'll get a referee to pronounce it "Tex-***' Christian?"

Yes, absolutely, the big12 officials are biased against ISU. It is beyond obvious. Please name a time we won a game via a bad call. We have lost numerous games across multiple sports because of shady officiating, name a game Texas football or Kansas basketball has lost because of a bad call. If it were simply bad officiating bad calls would be spread across teams and they most certainly are not.

I would be fascinated to see how penalties called on ISU have changed since the Texas game and Rhoads outburst.

Only way that gets the national attention is if CPR takes the team off the field after a really bad call and refuse to finish the game. The Texas game would have been perfect.

Don't worry basketball season is here, I know bball refs don't speak to the crowd but a certain individual from Orange City who loves KU would be able to pronounce it right.

If we had stopped them on the last drive and won, who woudl have been complaining about the calls? Score touchdowns and move one; you then won't have to blame others for complacency...

I would have to say that each fan base "believes" that their team is getting screwed by the officials. Go to any schools message boards and see how they all think they are getting hosed. However, this year when we play teams the opposing fan bases make comments such as "Christmas came early this year," "ISU got screwed there," etc.

Case in point, during this game a TCU fan stated this: "You can always count on the officials being on your side when playing ISU. It's like the Big 12 is trying to send them a message. Not only were they wrong on BOTH parts of the Carter catch, they missed an obvious hold on the Boykin TD. LOL" This post was followed by this response (also a TCU fan), " Man there's some truth in there. They've been hosed quite a bit in recent years."

When the opposing fan bases believe they are getting the benefit of the doubt....there is something to that.

I don't know why this has to be explained everytime someone comments on the officials.

No one is saying that the refs cost ISU this or any other game(it is debatable).

What people are saying is that there is a history of horrible calls being made against ISU. There is a history of nit picky calls being made against ISU when the opposing team seams to do no wrong. There is also a history of power house schools getting questionable calls to go in their favor in important situations(not only when playing ISU).

I would like to think that the big 12 refs are incompetent but the evidence points to them being crooked as hell.

Fans of other teams are pointing it out. My dad is a hawkeye fan and he has gone to a couple games with me and watches some on TV. He is constantly amazed at how ISU gets screwed over.

Its time for something to be done to get changes made.

Not getting PI calls is our own fault IMO. We never throw deep.

Count how many times yesterday that TCU threw really deep. I can think of at least 4. 2 of them were back to back that went for 75 yds when we had them pinned on their own 1 yd line. But we NEVER do it.

This is one thing that has bothered me all year. Especially since Texas. Texas constantly threw deep and got a ton of PI calls on us. We never threw one against them at all. And game after game we never do it. It is NOT a risky play Rhoads. C'mon.

95% of the time your WR catches the ball, it goes incomplete, or you get PI called. Rarely is it intercepted, and even when it is, it's nothing more than the equivalent of a punt. It is NOT risky. All good teams do it. It stretches the field vertically and opens up the running game and short passing game too.

There's a reason other teams put all 11 defenders at LB depth against us. We are no threat at all down the field. The announcers again commented on it all day yesterday again. TCU was putting ALL 11 defenders at within LB depth of the line of scrimmage. No respect at all for us to throw anything deeper than basically a bubble screen.

Oh, and by the way, the last time I do remember us throwing deep this year was at the end of the Iowa game. And we know how that turned out. Bundrage scored off of them all.

I would be interested to see a stat to show if we then got penalized on the following set of downs after getting the first down penalty.

But just comparing numbers doesn't tell the story. You can't compare a false start by OSU to PI on us after 3rd down that would have gotten us the ball back. Lets not forget the two turnovers our defense earned this year that we didn't get.

While I agree the big names get better calls there is one anecdote that, to me, proves this isn't as true as we think it is.

#2 Oklahoma State 2011. The biggest stage we've ever seen in Ames and a chance for the Big 12 to get back to the national championship. If they make that field goal they win and go to the NC game. The ref used a judgement call and said it was over the upright so it was no good. That was the ultimate chance to send the nobodies packing and the big boys to the top. But the call was made in favor of the little guys and we all know how it turned out.

And that ref got fired right after the game.

Just kidding. I hope.

I've tried going down this road before. It didn't work.

Let me run this by you....OKie St. is not a marque program and although they are "bigger" than we are, they are still considered a "little guy" in the eyes of the BCS and tv ratings. I can guarantee that the football gods DID NOT want them in the national title game. They only want perennial powers such as Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St. Nebraska, OU, Tx, Alabama, LSU, USC, etc in the title game because that's what feeds the beast financially. It's all about tv ratings and Okie St. is not as desirable as the list above. Losing that game opened up the whole discussion of one loss teams competing for the title which allowed the cluster muck that was the title game....SEC CHAMPIONSHIP , AGAIN. I'm not at all saying that the refs "gave us" the win, but they called a pretty even game that gave us a chance. OSU still had opportunities to lose a game (OU), so to rig our game against OSU was not necessary, but perhaps OSU did not get "favors". I would bet the house that if we were playing an undefeated OU or TX team, that field goal would have counted.

Watch and see what happens to Baylor if they stay undefeated. Bet they are either picked over by other undefeated teams, or a one loss Stanford (for example) is picked before them. In case you missed the Oregon/Stanford game, after Oregon lost ESPN was already starting to justify why certain one loss teams were more "qualified" than an undefeated Baylor.

Truth is, I didn't notice anything fishy until last season. This year especially just seems extremely negligent.
