Vikes at a crossroads

Sigh. Since the 60's I've had horns. Now I find real Vikings never wore horned helmets. Green Bay did packing and there is a color Brown. A whole franchise based on a lie. I say get rid of the horns on the helmets.

I think it was Spielman, but don't count on him being gone any time soon. Ponder was a miss, but he's done very well at drafting overall. They'd be silly to get rid of him. Ponder was one of those picks where the Vikes felt they had to take a qb, and were scared that there wouldn't be any left by the time they picked. Obviously, that was a mistake. Still, Spielman has plenty of cache when it comes to his drafting prowess.

Rick Spielman- who has drafted really well for the Vikings in the past 3 years. Just do not let him evaulate QB talent.

I agree that the coaching staff needs to change, but who do you replace them with mid season? I don't think anyone on the staff is competent enough to take over as interim. I think there would be better options in the off season.

Well, Freeman made Ponder look like Dan Marino last night. Holy crap that was too hard to watch. halfway through the 3rd quarter I just started playing GTA V instead. No offense to the Giants, but man was that bad football last night. The NFL should be embarrassed for letting those two teams play each other.

I could not possibly disagree more. The Ponder selection was a giant whiff which any sane person knew at the time, the three 1st rounders this year would not be seeing much time if not for injuries, and drafts are made by who you select in round 3 and later. Look at his history in those rounds. Anybody can make halfway decent selections in rounds 1 and 2, and I'm not sure Spielman's selections the last two drafts even reach the halfway decent level for those rounds. I'm all for a total housecleaning but it needs to include Spielman.
 
Freeman looked like he was a novice playing tennis against Jimmy Conners. He could not even chuck the ball through a barn opening. He had little scramble ability which is needed for the Vikes. Fingers could trip hiom up. He could not fake people out on handoffs. He did not look too concerned on the sideline since he is making two mil to muck it up. He looked like he could have been out there eight quarters shooting at wild turkey and coming home empty handed. He was so bad, even the Giants fans were cringing. This is not the best qb available in free agency. He is worse than ponder. When are they going to bring Webb back? The Vikings coach knows he is screwed from just looking at his face. For the record, the static oline could not make a hole for AP. 26 yards on 12 line blasts. Jared Allen probably wishes he was back in KC.
 
The Vikings need to commit to SOMETHING. Are you going to rebuild? Fine, do it. Don't sign aging players, and build through the draft. Otherwise, commit to rebuilding thru free agency. Mortgage your long term to build a team for now with AP on it.

The problem is they have no direction. They don't know which way to go and so they end up in the middle.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure a large majority of Viking, Giant, and general football fans had these two teams pegged for a much better record than they are showing right now.
