In order for ISU to turn the corner I think we need to land some solid DT's and DE's. We need to get a consistent pass rush on the QB.

You people and your pass rush bs. Here's the deal. Our pass rush isn't great. I won't argue that. The issue is that you have to understand that against teams like Baylor and Tech, you will see very little pressure applied not matter who is playing them. The same understanding needs to be had when you make comments about a 3 man line or lack of blitz. Making schematic changes in an effort to increase pressure on teams like that is an exercise in futility. They get the ball out so fast that you don't get anyone there anyway and simply leave less people in coverage. Really the only way to get pressure on them is by getting a free hitter but even though Wally is a great DC, he has not shown an ability to scheme in a way to get that free hitter.

Getting players on the front four that are good pass rushers is not BS. You don't have to sack someone to make them uncomfortable

That's not the point. The point is that QB pressure will not be had on a consistent basis against teams like that even if you are lining up Clowney and Freeney at the ends. There were a lot of times, that against a team with a longer developing play, we would have gotten pressure Saturday but when they are snapping and throwing as fast as those teams do, it's hard to get pressure. That's not considering you still have to maintain gap integrity against the run, which we did not do.

There were a number of play when Webb would just stand back there waiting for someone to hit him but no one did. I think quick pressure is absolutely key against offenses like that. Sorry but the DB's have no ball skills so opposing qb's are going to get chunks of yards with no pressure in their face.

What, you didn't like the pass rush last Saturday?

2012 averages:
Sacks 1.2 per game for avg 6.8 yards lost; TFL 4.5 per game for avg 16.5 yards lost; 2.0 QB hurries per game

To date 2013:
1.8 sacks per game & 9.2 yards lost; TFL 5 per game for 14 yards lost; 2.2 QB hurries per game

I think we have done better at disrupting the pocket this year but the numbers so far only show a slight improvement. This past Saturday was a little different, though, in that we dropped 8 into coverage and rushed just 3 quite a bit. It looked like a Skldany defense versus Missouri's spread offense.

We need Clinkscales as he is a disruptor on both the run & the pass. Probably more so on against the run. Not only that, he would free up the LBs to make plays - which if you look ahead will be vital next year.

I hope we land Clinkcsales and possibly redshirt him unless he proves to be good enough to start, but we have 3 SRs at DT next year (Irving, Coe and Jensen). I would also love to land a speedy DE and a good solid LB and maybe one more DB.

On offense, I think 1 more OL and another RB would be good. Jeff Jones would be huge, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. If Mister stays with ISU, then he could be a really good RB/WR combo guy. This kid had interest in ISU a last year, but not sure about now. Maybe if the coaches contacted him?... No offers, but he is a good power RB. Could be a good replacement for Woody. Kenric Young would be a great guy to land as well, but I'm thinking he sees Lazard, Montgomery, Bundrage, Ebcy etc. are all young and he might not see the field as early as he would at a school like Indiana.

Terrell Clinkscales, Danzel Mcdaniel, Jeff Jones, Micquel Cotton, and Kenric Young would put this recruiting class through the roof. I know the likely-hood of this happening is slim, but we have to have something to look forward to after the start to this season.
