It's Thursday again, and I looked and didn't see a Gameday thread so I figured I'd post one. Come to me now, credits!!!

Expect a loud and raucous crowd Saturday. The link below takes you to a report on Texas Tech students bucking the national trend by attending games in record numbers. The story has both print and video elements if you're interested but here are some of the highlights:

Student Attendance Breaking National Trend at Texas Tech

"Texas Tech has gone against a national trend or 'issue' in college football with student attendance declining at most institutions over the last few seasons. ... But that's not the case at Texas Tech. While others are reassigning student seats to be purchased, Tech is doing the exact opposite - finding more room for students each week. The athletics ticket office recently added another section of seats to be used by students for Saturday's game against Iowa State in hopes of breaking the single-game student attendance record for the third time this season."
...

"The first home game had 14,915 students in attendance, breaking the record of 12,910 set in the 2010 home opener. Then the very next week in a Thursday night game against TCU, featured on national television, the students showed up in record fashion once again - 16,092."
...

"Tech now sits with an average of 13,750 students in attendance at the first three home games, which is 109%capacity for having only 12,577 students seats allocated. That number leads the Big 12 Conference in student attendance in percent to capacity, according to the information gathered by the Tech athletics ticket office.

Texas is at 99%, followed by Kansas State (84%), Iowa State (82%), Baylor (81%), West Virginia (75%), Oklahoma (73%), Oklahoma State (60%) and Kansas (51%). TCU did not report any numbers (LOL!)."

Okay, I added the "(LOL!)" for TCU failing to report student attendance. Could be close to 20,000 students at the game so expect a sell-out or close to it.

Does TTU have free student attendance? Or do they just not stop selling tickets?

Monday games are full of pros,
Tuesday games are full of woes
Wednesday games are really dreadful
Thursday games all crowd the schedule.
Friday games are for high school,
Saturday games are the best, so cool!
But the games that are played far from Jack Trice
Are the ones where talent must suffice.

GO CLONES !!!

:pwink:

Preparing my nuts again for this week.

Big 12 rankings for Opp penalty yardage per game.

#1 Texas Tech 78.8 yards per game

#10 Iowa State 25.5 yards per game

If anyone is playing a drinking game while watching this weekend, don't forget to take a drink every time the FS1 cameras catch a glimpse of a Tech guy pleasuring himself with that big brass bell on the sidelines.

So according to what you bolded Texas Tech can't get enough paying fans to go to the game so you let more students in for free? I wouldn't be touting that, I'd be embarrassed about that..

Students get in for free? What is this UNI?

And I'd say that 82% is under reported, due to the fact we have maybe 7,000-8,000 seats allocated to students, and at most games, it's filled, and overflow in the aisles.

Pretty soon they will be giving the students Kingsberry bobbleheads and free pizza to fill the empty seats ;)

So, at Tech, students just show up at the game and swipe their ID card to get in.

It does seem strange that the AD is taking away some paid seats and giving them to students, when at the same time they are touting their attendance. Something doesn't quite fit there.
