What luxury used car should I get?

Looking to get a new used car and would like CF advice. As you may expect I have a crappy commute of 37 miles each way (almost 3 hours total/day) and want to suffer in a bit of luxury but don't see the point in buying new to only drive a more costly appliance.

I've researched; Volvo C70 (ruled out since ended production in 2013), BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Infinity G37X (already have a Q56), and the Buick Regal GS (had one while ago and loved it).

What experience or advice does CF have for me?

Getting rid of my wife's 3 series today (lease ended), good car - but would not want to spend 3 hours a day in it, not very comfortable. Just picked up a Acura TL for her and it seems to be a lot more comfortable and has most of the bells and whistles as the BMW.

Get a car with bucket seats they are so much better to sit on. Edit: bench seats

Personally, I wouldn't get a Volvo or Buick. If you need a sedan, I'd probably choose between BMW 3 series, Lexus IS350, Audi A4, and Cadillac CTS. The Mercedes C class is an extremely comfortable ride but they seem kind of bland to me. Also to note, any of the German cars on here will have major brake dust on the rims. Just more of annoyance then anything else.

Lincoln hands down. Last forever, quality perfect, stunning looks and 45 mpg with the hybrid.

I just recently got rid of a 2008 Infiniti G35x sedan and it was a rock. Some of the things I liked about it:

1. Bigger than it's competitors. Even with me being in the front at 6'2, the people in the back had room.
2. Nissan has been using that motor forever and it's pretty much bulletproof. I had the same motor in a 2003 350z.
3. Nearly perfect balance between sport and comfort ride. Quiet.
4. Better looking than most competitors
5. AWD is good in the winter
6. 300+ hp

Only thing I didn't love about it was that the interior was a little dated but that has more to do with it being a 2008 and how much technology has changed in the last 5 years. Another thing to keep in mind is that you'll need to use premium and you won't get over 25mpg.

I drove some cars last year in this category and here are my thoughts:

BMW 3 series-Being a car nut I wanted to love this car but it just didn't do it for me. I thought the power was best in class but I didn't like the interior styling, ride was a little to rough, interior was a little tight, and the biggest problem is the price. You had to pay $50k to get a new 328i with a decent amount of options. Buying used is the way to go with these cars but than they have the reliability issues.

Volvo S60 T5-Willis gave me one of these for a couple of days while a rim was being repaired. This one really surprised me. Loved the interior. The performance wasn't as good as the Infiniti or BMW but was decent. Ride was nice. Price was very competitive. On a side note, I drove the more expensive S80 and was VERY disappointing. I can't believe the same company makes these 2 cars.

Lexus GS-I think the new model came out in 2012. Similar to the G37 in size. I love this car. Rock solid, quiet, best interior, comfortable. Not really in the same class but surprisingly close in price to the BMW. I would take this over a 5 series every time.

Audi S5. I drove the V8 which they stopped making in 2012. They have some reliability issues but if I had $40k to spend on a used car this would probably be it. I love Audi interiors. Don't plan on putting anyone in the back seat. I really think it's one of the best looking cars made in the last decade. The V8 sounded SO GOOD. Probably no faster than the BMW was but once again the engine note was so nice.

It probably comes down to what you want to spend.

You can pick up a nice certified G37 with less than 35k miles for under $25k. You're probably going to have to spend closer to $35k for a nice low mileage 3 series, and probably over $40k for a new generation GS350.

Also keep an eye out for some rare cars that were not real popular new. A perfect example is an Infiniti M56. Willis has one with less than 15k miles for around $40k. We're talking about a 420hp V8 that cost over $65k new. Another big plus is that you rarely see another one like it.

BMW is having their clearance sale for 2013 Series 3 and 5 models until 9/30.

I like Infinity Q50 too. My options were somewhat limited because I wanted an AWD vehicle to deal with the snow. We considered Audi A4 (wife didn't like it), BMW 320/328 or Lexus IS (too crammed). Ended up getting BMW 328 - so far she likes it.
