Magic in This Program Will take it to 6-6

We may accidentaly win a game, but we are easily the worst team in the Big 12 and arguably the worst team in the BCS. We couldn't go .500 in the Missouri Valley or Gateway or whatever.

I am a lifetime fan of Johnson County's Eastern Iowa Community College, but am not a troll (trust me). With that said, I have an honest question: Admittedly, Iowa State has elevated academic standards. Are these standards high enough that it limits ISU's ability to get 4 and 5 star recruits?

The only magic that would give ISU 5 wins in conference is if 4 teams forfeit due to equipment problems and Kansas gets lost on the way to Jack Trice and wind up in South Dakota............And we still could lose to the forfeit

If we're a dog against Tulsa, then any win we get this year will be as an underdog, meaning it will be an upset win. We don't need two upsets, we need six. And that's just to get to .500. The expectations among CFers prior to the season was that progression in the win-loss column was needed to sustain the upward trend of the program. (Basically, all of the "this is year five, six wins is no longer enough" posts.) Six wins or less this season will be disastrous. So I guess what I'm saying is, be prepared for disaster.
Buying my TP and bottled water now to prepare for disaster.

Yeah because 4 and 5 star recruits don't value academics and are all stupid with bad ACT scores and GPA.

Standford and Notre Dame's 4 and 5 star recruits all cheat the system and get into those institutions without the NCAA noticing.

Hopefully by now you realize I'm making fun of how dumb a question that is.

I wouldn't be surprised. . . If ISU pulls it together in Tulsa and takes that momentum back to Ames to beat Texas, that is the flip of the switch needed to get this team playing together. That confidence will carry them to 6 wins, is my prediction. Looking back, it will be clear that the Cyclones sort of needed those painful first 2 losses to help define themselves and forge an identity. *misty eyed. Rhoads will be a LEGEND.

- - - - -Why then do you not get top flight recruits?

Using Massey's ratings, and simulating 10,000 seasons, if you spot us wins against Tulsa and Texas (per the OP), ISU's chances of getting to 6+ wins are...2.2%. It's actually a little higher than that (since our stock would improve through the year), but probably 5% is the highest reasonable guess.
