Scalpers at Jack Trice

I caught a bus to the Iowa game at JTS last year. There were some scalpers there who were asking where everyone was. One guy was nice enough to tell them the game was in Iowa City.

I personally know three of the scalpers. One of them has been doing this since we were old enough to drive to Ames for basketball games almost 25 years. Over the years you do develop relationships with people and that's where most of the good tickets come from. Yes you can make some pretty good coin and yes the ones I know are huge Cyclone fans if that makes you feel any better.

Let them scalp away. If they raise the value of tickets, maybe more people would be willing to buy season tickets and the south endzone will happen sooner rather than later.

Same scalpers at every game FB and BB. I've also seen them at events in Des Moines. I never sell or buy from them. I see lots of people walk up and give them free tickets. dumb

Pardon the rave, but I just get really frustrated seeing these guys with the "Need Tickets" signs who obviously aren't Iowa State fans. One guy usually has a Cal hat on. I would never sell a ticket to these guys, but somebody must because they are always in the parking lots working the fans. Maybe we should have a Cyclone Fanatic follow these guys and tell people what is going on, matching the price, and promising to make the ticket available only to Cyclone fans without gouging them. Or maybe follow them with a video camera. Maybe we could create a Cyclone Fanatic non-gouging service. I don't mind a free market economy. I just hate seeing these guys getting good tickets cheap from Cyclone fans and then turning around and selling them to visitors or gouging Cyclone fans.
Option 1: Spend a tailgating day following around a scalper. Option 2: Spend a tailgating day eating mounds of food, drinking oceans of beer, and hanging out with friends. This is really a tough choice. I'll have to get back to you...

This concept of people being able to do what they want with tickets they own is just so radical. Going to have to think on this some more. Kinda glad I am not going to the game since I won't have to risk being judged on my personal ticket management behavior.

Buy season tickets and you won't have this issue!

Sorry if this has been said, I don't have time to read through all the posts

I think a lot of these scalpers are buying season ticket packages now. I know last year we never had the same people around us in Sec 239 Hilton (cheap seats) , even though the section's season tickets were sold out. Kind of makes me mad, as you can try to move down in your section each year you renew tickets, but in 4 years it has never worked due to everyone "renewing".

Who sells their tickets to these guys? They can't be paying very much or it wouldn't be worth their while to be there. Do season ticket holders not recognize that these guys are making lots of money selling to fans of the visiting team and gouging Iowa State fans? I suspect that they may buy some season tickets themselves and sell those, but I'm particularly concerned about Iowa State fans "giving" away their extra tickets to these guys in the parking lot as if they were Cyclone fans.

They're at the MBB games also...we mess with them every game. We have 3 tickets & if we don't have a friend using the third, we watch for families talking to these guys. Usually they just need one or two for little kids. We give them our extra ticket right in front of the scalper. Soooooo very satisfying!

If you know people at your tailgate that need tickets go outside the east or south gate or on the street just north of the stadium. I have tried to sell or give away tickets several times over the last 3 or 4 years without alot of success. I would love to sell them to ISU fans or give them to an ISU family.

I was gonna buy a ticket the other night now that I know I'd be able to attend it... But I'm not paying $70 for hillside. If anyone's for something much closer to face Let me know!

Oh great. Way to humanize these guys and ruin my rant.

If any of you who say you sometimes haven't been able to give away your tickets, send me a PM, I will be glad to take your tickets off your hands.
