Personally, I really couldn't care less what baseball does with Alex Rodriguez - suspend him 50 games, all next season, or for life. No matter what they look like gigantic hypocrites because they turned the blind eye through the 1990s.
What I simply cannot stand, though, is the Yankees actively campaigning MLB to suspend A-Rod for life. Not that they care about the integrity of the game - they couldn't care less what A-Rod was on when what he was taking was helping them win championships. They want A-Rod suspended because his contract is now an albatross and this is the only way they can rid themselves of it. They knew the risks however many years ago it was now when they took on A-Rod's contract. Now that A-Rod is nowhere close to worth that contract, the Yankees are looking for MLB to bail them out. I mean, can it be any more clear that an organization couldn't care any less about the integrity of the game?
If MLB wants to ban A-Rod for life, fine - whatever. Just make sure the Yankees don't get to benefit from it.
