Okay, fanatics don't let me down:) I am looking for a great working shoe, I do allot of walking, and I have arthritis in my foot, so really look for something that is really comfortable and will last along time. It needs to be for a wide foot, I have looked into Dr. Martens, but really have a tough time finding them in wide. Any other suggestions, would be appreciated.

I would go to Red Wings. The salesperson will measure your foot and personally fit the right size for length and width. They also have several options to choose from that both look good and are comfortable. I'm in the construction business and have flat feet and my feet have been sore at the end of everyday when I wear anything but Red Wings. They are a little pricey, the ones I get are over $200, but they last a long time.

If you are looking for boots, you can't go wrong with Redwing. Anything else I try falls apart fast. I just spent 200 on the exact same pair I was replacing. They lasted for 2 years. Some other boots break within 3 months for me.

Another red wings fan here. I just keep getting the same boot over and over. Probably on pair 4 or 5. Each pair has lasted 2 years and I wear them almost everyday.

Shoe or boot? What type of work do you do?

I am a mail clerk, and I am on my feet most of the day. Right now I wear a tennis shoe, but would prefer a better looking shoe. No steel toe needed, looking for something so my feet wont hurt at the end of the day, and if I were to get promoted something that is dressy enough so I wont have to go out and buy another pair.

sure you don't need steel toes? what happens if you drop an envelope?

or step on a crack?

you will haved killed your mother or a worse, dropped an envelope near your non-steel toed shoes.

Always, has to be a smart butt in the crowd! Wait until you have foot problems and see what happens! Btw, we deliver more then just envelopes:)

This one big enough? Size 638 1/2 D width.

I was a die hard Red Wing guy for years. But I am a person who wears flip flops year round and for some reason the feel of boots was starting to bother me. I switched to wearing Keen shoes and boots about a year and a half ago. They are crazy comfortable and very durable. Biggest bonus to me is that they don't feel nearly as big and heavy on my feet as boots do.

I am fairly certain that within a couple of years I will find a way for me to wear flip flops in the field.

I will agree with this. When its just too hot for jeans and work boots it's shorts and my keens.

Well, thanks for the advice, but I went with DR Martens, they tend to run wider then most medium shoes.
