Flop or Not...

Question - Has anyone ever seen a team hit the floor as much as Miami did Wednesday night? Now i now they've been accused of it on multiple occasions and rightfully so....but Wednesday night it almost appeared they've been trained how to take a bump and flop.....

The most obvious was obviously the best player in the league....James for his raw physical nature and athletic ability relies on this as a part of his game....that is too bad, it is flat out not needed. I cannot believe that at certain junctures last night that he simply didnt walk up to Wade or Cole and take the ball out of their hands....Whenever James wanted to get to the basket he could do so with ease as was evident by the overplay of George in OT....

But, between him and Wade running down the floor complaining about every foul on Miami, and if they thought they didnt get a call.....i gained a ton of respect for Indiana last night. I totally respect how they play the game, physical, in your face defense, and straight up. They didnt complain about the calls to the extent of Miami and just went out there and played a heck of game that as James said, came down to the best player on the planet making an incredible play.

Lastly - i thought the NBA was instilling a no-flop rule that players could be given technicals? If that would happen, i would predict that Miami losses by 7-10 points because thats how many times in my estimation miami hit the deck without real contact. I have definitely been pushed to the Indiana fan side as i cannot stand to watch miami continue to get crazy fouls and flop to the ground beggin to get more....i mean seriously the first 2 second half possessions that Indiana had were both called offensive fouls on the screener....that can be called every time birdman or bosh do the exact move that West and Hibbert had done, but the Pacers player didnt over-react by falling to the ground or throwing their arms in the air....But, west did get a lil animated when Cole arm barred his jewels!!!!

This series is gonna be a great series, and i think Miami will pull it out in 6 or 7. For TV sake, it should go 7 because if the rest of the games are like game 1, i will watch each one....

First off I will say that there was bad officiating on both sides of the ball and a ton of make up calls it seemed, which I think is the Worst. The last play with the guys on the floor diving for the ball should have been a foul on the pacers.

However, I agree that I have never seen a team cry about calls the way that the Heat do. From a pure basketball fan perspective, I dont see how anyone could cheer for that team. Every time down the floor it seems either wade or lebron are holding their noses or their face like theyve just fought Fraizer.

The other thing that drives me nuts is the way they play defense which makes it even harder to respect them on the offensive side. They fly around faster than any other team on defense ive ever seen. They get beat by the ball handler but catch up to them in an instant. However, they push and shove and hand check and grab like crazzzzyyyy. I can see why they get so many steals and fastbreak dunks.

I used to be a Wade fan, heck even an LBJ fan. But putting them together, they act like they are "entitled" for every call to go their way. Sort of the same reason I have never been much of a Kobe fan.

The Heat are tough to watch sometimes because they do cry about everything. The Pacers for the most part (minus west) just play hard and don't complain. I agree though it should be a very fun series and I really think the Pacers win in 7.

Shane Battier flops more and baits more technical fouls than any player to ever play basketball. Almost every single time he's on the floor when players get chippy after a play, watch the replay and it starts with Battier doing something cheap or getting away with something. The altercation can be among two other players, but if Battier's in the game it somehow started with him.

Please please let this happen. If I have to watch those dbags (wade and lebron, and might as well include Bosh) and the rest of the has beens/and never were's hoist the trophy again I think I'm going to puke.

Rodman?

I agree, I used to be a Dwade fan, but his flopping is out of control now.

LBJ is one of the biggest floppers ever in my opinion. A guy as big and built like he is should not be falling down with the contact he usually gets.

I think a lot of you are confusing selling a call with flopping. Flopping is when you bait the official into calling a foul when no foul was committed. Selling a call is when you exagerate the foul to make the officials notice it.

LeBron has a similar problem that Shaq used to have. He's so big that if he wanted, people could just hammer him and it would barely register for him. However, that also leads to a lot of non-calls on fouls that should be called.

As for the whining to officials, the Heat are one of the worst at it. San Antonio and Boston are the other two big culprits.

Spot on. Also, notice the 3 teams you mentioned.... all have older "entitled" players that **** and moan their way through the games; LBJ, Wade, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Duncan, Parker

Barely even touched

The way he baits and irritates players into techs is very similar to a Rodman or Reggie Evans, but I'd guess those two combined flop at half the regularity of Battier giving him the crown of cheapest player I've ever watched.

Reggie Evans is a huge flopper too. And an all around dirty player.

There are players on every team that do that it seems. Some teams just happen to have more than one player. Boozer complains a ton on the Bulls. Every time he shoots a shot it seems he yells "and one!"

Also including Allen in that? He barely says a word on the court anymore. And forgetting about Ginobli (which my phone just tried to auto correct to hobgoblin) who is a flopper and a complainer is amusing.
