Depending on who you talk to and who your talking about, many critics debate over whether Japanese players should be considered for Rookie of the Year awards. They stem from a country that embraces the sport just the same as us, yet because they've never set foot on American Soil, their status exemplifies that.

Where's the difference between them and all these Central American Players. The trend seems to fall on the imediate impact that Japanese players provide. Most don't make their way through the farm system ranks, and end up usually securing a starting role from day one. But this was the point of getting them right! Dice-K and Fukudome weren't acquired to ride the bench now were they.

Rules are rules, you can't agrue that. But if you had the authority to change them, would you?

The only problem I have with it is the fans voting. You get a Japanese player that's in the running and it's pretty much over. The Japanese fans will vote early and often for their guy. Who stands a chance of winning when a whole nation is voting against you?

Japaneese baseball is about the equivelent to AAA 1/2. So I think they should be in consideration for Rookie of the year as they still haven't played at this level....

I don't care about ROY I just think they should decide once and for all if they are going to go by their first name or their last and put the appropriate one on the jersey... So confusing
