As you can see, the Cardinals' rotation in 2013 -- Adam Wainwright, Jake Westbrook, Jaime Garcia, Lance Lynn and Shelby Miller -- so far compare quite favorably to the two most decorated pitchers in all of baseball from last season. In fact, if those five guys were made one -- let's call this imaginary pitcher "Augustus O'Redbirds"-- and transported back to last season, the Cardinal collective might have won a Cy Young.

the birds are starting to look like the Braves in the 90's, except they have an offense to go with it. Hopefully Rosenthal or Martinez can turn into a show stopper as closer.

The Cardinals' current closer, Edward Mujica, has 9 saves in 9 save opportunities... 14 K's in 14.0 innings... and an opponent batting average of .160. I think he is doing just fine

Yep, I have him on two of my fantasy teams. He is hot now. Leading majors in saves?

Cards could have far and away the best record in baseball if the bullpen hadn't blown so many late leads already. I also expect the starting pitching to regress to the mean over the course of the season, but their production has been exceptional so far... especially Garcia, who looked lost for a lot of last season.

Over the past few years, the Cards seem to often have the best 4th and 5th starters in baseball. It seems to me a lot of other teams consistently worry too much about getting a #1 and not enough about the rest of their rotation.

They're very good. Their starting rotation is the best in baseball right now. They've also been on a tear since the start of the season even with large struggles/slumps offensively from Jon Jay and David Freese. Mujica sures up the closer spot with the loss of Motte, but the rest of the bullpen must improve. if Boggs becomes the dominant 8th inning guy again and starts getting all those holds again then look out MLB
