Earl Hall

I read on twitter he is a Cyclone. If true, an amazing (and surprising) get for KJ and our young staff.

He is friends with Jesse Doyle and I saw it on twitter as well, Doyle posted it. Will he be 133 or 125 lbs?

Earl Hall, Jesse Doyle and E Du Luca are all wrestling in the US Open or FILA Junior Nationals this week

It was late so I wanted to save this for the morning. I, EARL HALL, AM COMMITTING TO BE A IOWA STATE CYCLONE! #TurnUp [/h]

I'm beginning to think more and more it was less KJ running the program into the ground and more of Cael gutting the talent as he left.

KJ is getting this thing turned around. A near top 10 finish with a lot of guys coming back.

I'd change that to "Cael gutting the young talent". Jackson had plenty of great upperclass talent his first few years with Big Z, Varner, Reader, Gallick, and Fanthorpe among others. Hopefully it's just taken time for Jackson to adjust to coaching and recruiting college kids and he's got this thing going in the right direction again.

Cael definitely hurt ISU when he left.

Recruiting is the name of the game, as in all college sports. Great pick up by KJ.

Agree there... but he produced with that talent, which is the big reason I maintained faith in his ability to rebuild.

This is a huge pickup. I wonder if Nebraska "adjusted" their scholarship offer to Hall in order to make room for McCauley. Regardless, this also allows us to redshirt Meeks for sure next season, as I'd expect Hall and Finch to cover 125/133

so what was this kids ranking, etc out of HS? think he will RS then wrestle behind Finch for a year? or move to 133 if Meeks moves up to 141?

What was he ranked out of high school?

explain how this will play out with more detail if possible.

Thank you for finally understanding what we (people who follow the program closely) have been trying get people to understand. Wrestling isn't a sport that can withstand a big blow like that and it not affect the program.

I hope that by adding Earl Hall, that will help us land a lightweight senior level wrestler. I am thinking Angel Escobedo.

I think if we can keep that staff and senior level team around, good things can happen.

I don't know why Angel isn't wrestling this week thou.

Is Earl Hall also at the OTC? How highly ranked was/is he?

Yes, he was at the OTC this year. As far as rankings - he isn't a can't miss blue chip like McCauley or somebody along those lines, but he is a very solid wrestler I'd expect to have starting for us for 4 years. I'm not sure whether or not he'll redshirt this year but I doubt it.
