ISU vs KSU Postgame thread

Colorado lost at home after being up by 14 points with 10 minutes to go in the game to an average at best Missouri team. No way they win in Hilton.

What bothers me more than losing the last two games by more than 24 points, is I don't see much help coming any time soon. Recruiting has to pick up.

Help is coming in the form of experience and weight training. And eligibility of someone I think will be a difference maker.

KU and KSU have us outmanned at every position (size and strength). I don't see that our 2008 recruiting class is going to change that. We are probably 3-4 years away from competing for a Big 12 title. Sorry to be a pessimist. That's just reality. Our best teams had physical players (Tinsley, Horton, S. Johnson and Fizer). That's what it takes to win in the Big 12.

Agreed we need to get more physical. Brackins lacks experience and Jiri is not strong enough. We also need guards that can really shoot. Lucca will help out tremendously.

I got home late. I am REALLY glad I missed seeing this game.

I watched for about 20 mins at home, and decided that it wasn't going to get any better. And from what I understand, it didn't.

I just don't see our team getting any better this year. We're kinda stuck where we are, unless one of our guards or somebody who hasn't done much suddenly goes crazy and becomes a great player. We're kinda at the point where, we're a mediocre team. We aren't going to surprise anyone.

I heard the same thing about the football team. We'll finish the year fine.

I am also kind of resigned to the fact that there are no magic tricks up the coaches sleeves, and until we have more than one guy who can dribble penetrate, we are going to be in trouble.....I think Clinton Mann is just what we need next year, a tough physical player. Its hard to get the ball inside when you don't have physical post players, or much ability to break down with dribble penetration.

We just lost to two really good teams, both on the road, both of whom are undefeated in the conference, with a combined record of 34-4.
I'm not saying that we are going to be awesome at the end of year, but I think we will see improvement. I won't make any big assumptions until we are at least halfway through the conference season.

I posted this at halftime as well.

We were outmatched at every position except Wesley J. Wesley is stud. The rest of this team is nowhere near where they need to be to compete with teams like this.

Brackins can learn what he needs to learn. I'm not so sure about Diante. He has a bad handle, I think. He also takes bad layups, which hard to do.

Exactly. Our three conference losses are to the three best teams in the Big 12, on the road. Clearly we are a team that has difficulty keeping with it once we get down, but the sky is not falling and we will improve. Craig and Diante are still learning...it was only their 5th Big 12 game, and they need to get more experience. They're not Beasley level talent and therefore need to develop a little.

I disagree with you here. I think a lot of Garrett's TO's have been either mental, trying to force things. As far as finishing at the basket, getting stronger will help that. I know he's not touched on a lot of the gimmes he misses, but being stronger will give him the confidence to finish without being scared of contact.

I think of Kantrail Horton. I know DG won't ever have the body he did, but being stronger helps confidence. That guy was smart and a commanding presence.

I'm done being critical of the baskeball team so I'm only going to list the positives I saw today. ISU beat OU 31-3 in wrestling today!!
