While some are having panic attacks, I'm really enjoying this recruiting season for Iowa State.
1. we are getting big, fast recruits that will work themselves into good players for ISU 2.the quality is obvious because of the how many other schools are trying to raid our recruits. What have they been doing?
3. we are filling our needs.
-we had a big hole inthe kicking game, and got not one but two of the nation's top kickers
-strong players at every position
4. we return almost our entire team, with strong replacements for Meyer, Bowen and Blythe, our playmakers
5. it's clear Coach Chizik is building a program based on descipline. That goes for his recruiting and his coaching.
6.Chizik is recruiting seniors and reshirting virtually all of them. This is how you BUILD a winning program. Not a quick fix, build a program. And it works.
7. thre will be competition and depth at every position, including quarterback this year. That's what we've been lacking.
All of this stuff about us expecting recruits to live up to their committment only makes me more excited. I'm proud of the job Chizik is doing and damm proud to be from Iowa State!

Less than 2 weeks to go til signing day. It'll be fun to see if there are any last minute surprises. Maybe I should take the day off and just sit my butt in front of my computer, glued to CloneZone coverage.

Yeah, I'll even take that a step further....I'm not really worried about it until they actually hit the field. Who really knows how they will stack up until they start seeing action.

Hah! I'll go a step further. I'll enjoy following the recruiting season, but I won't start worrying until some of these guys don't hit the field playing well in what I think is a reasonable period (three or four years for some)--AND the team is still losing.

I mean it when I use the word worry. :skeptical:

Hey if you're going to mock me at least make a salient point.

uuuhhhh... idk what you are talking about when you say we've got a good replacement for blythe and bowen.... meyer i understand but even at that all 3 positions will be unproven, except maybe WR cuz hamilton played well last year

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Houston Nutt or some dude from Meechigan talks crap about Iowa State to Leonard Johnson.

At this point, I don't think it would be too hard. "ISU was 3-9 last year, perennial Big XII basement-dweller, it's in Ames, facilities are average at best..."

(Just playing devil's advocate)

we have a chance on a kicker from texas that will be as good or better than the two new kickers.he is a soccer goalie and is a good footballer.he has nailed several between 50 and 60 yards on field goals.he is a junior and will be available in year 2009. i am trying to get chizik to get him up to the summer cyclone football camps.i would compare him to the colorado
kicker that was able to kick off into the endzone and make the ultra long field goals about 2 or three years back.

cheers!!!!!
