Texas considering selling alcohol at football, basketball and baseball games | The Daily Texan

"That could soon change. UT is considering selling alcohol at football, basketball and baseball games, according to men’s athletics director DeLoss Dodds. Texas would become the third Big 12 school to serve alcohol at football games after Iowa State and West Virginia."

No reason not to. Fans are already drinking and\or drunk in the stadium, might as well make some money from it.

I think it's ridiculous that we aren't able to buy alcohol for football and basketball games. Hopefully this gets changed in the future.

Sorry, but I don't want to see what could happen at the end of a game like last week's against KU if the crowd were to have ready access to alcohol in the arena. No thanks.

Neat trick. Point at ISU, say "they get to do it, why can't we?" so that they can do it. Hopefully once they start selling it, we can do the same thing.

It's for sale in the suites at Jack Trice. I wish our board of regents was like MN's and said "all or nothing" Us common-folk need a good $6 beer now and again too. I'd gladly spend money on a few beers at halftime so I didn't have to walk back to my car.

Honestly it would have a huge impact financially and through keeping the fans in the seats for the second half kickoff.

Yet every pro stadium\arena and many colleges manage just fine.

Fans are already drinking. ISU sells alcohol to many as is in the club, johnny's and stage door, and many sneak their own in.

Exactly everyone around us drinks canned beer the whole game. Alcohol is in the stadium just not being sold.

That's fine, but we don't need it being openly consumed in the arena.

What makes it so much worse about it being 'openly consumed'? Alcohol isnt evil.

Where are the massive problems from alcohol at every pro arena\stadium? I just dont get why some think this is such a horrible thing.

Why should ISU be missing out on a good amount of money because you dont want to see people drinking?

Sorry, I just think if you combine a few thousand college aged students drinking as much as they can inside an arena plus perceived bad officiating or bad sportsmanship from the opponent and you're asking for trouble.

You're not going to change my mind and I'm not going to change yours.

It is stupid for there not to be alcohol sold, but Texas is just about the last school (wait, literally the last school) that needs the extra revenue.

Whether you see it or not, those students are already drinking. The only difference is, we arent making money off of it. We're fine with selling beer to our higher donor levels in johnnys\stage door\club. That includes those closest to the action in the courtside seats. The common fan should be able to as well.

God please let them serve beer! I hate having to walk out during halftime to get a beer(s)! Who wants exercise while they're drinking? Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.
