Kansas hit a shot that may or may not have been a three but was counted as such to send it to OT. KU won in OT.
But we got em in OT there the next year. I remember pulling my hair out during both of those for late FT misses..the year we won especially.
My father in law told me about this. I didnt believe it. Now I do and am blown away by how bad the call is.
Even though I watched this live and have seen the video several times since, it still blows my mind every time I see it. This could only happen to ISU, and it could only happen at the phog. It would have hurt nearly as bad if we hadn't gone on to lose in OT. (Also, add in the KU 3 where the replay clearly showed his foot on the line.) Fans grump about officials stealing a game all the time, but in this case you can straight up prove it.
I thought Langford's foot was clearly on the line.
I didn't realize the refs miscalled the FTs as a one-and-one for the longest time. The call doesn't seem as bad to me now knowing it was a matter of the refs calling a one-and-one instead of not blowing the whistle when Kansas took the ball in the middle of the FTs.
This may have been the worst call ever, but the "phantom charge" and other 4th quarter calls during the Iowa State Michigan State elite 8 game were the most costly. By far.
