***Official 2013 Bracketology Thread***

If you look at his whole bracket, ISU is the lowest seeded of 6 Big 12 teams. I don't believe the conference will get 6 teams in this year. It is just not that strong. Plus, conferences like the Mountain West are doing well this year. It's possible that conference will get in 4 teams, maybe even 5.

However, I also don't see Baylor and OSU finishing ahead of ISU in the Big 12, from what I have seen of them so far this year. ISU has to figure out a way to better contend with other team's bigs, but if they can do that......I think they can finish no lower than 4th in the conference, and maybe get as high as an 8 seed.

plenty of other weak leagues as well: SEC, ACC, and BigEast might "only" get 7. plenty of spots available - big 12 is going to get more teams in than many think (although seeds might be crappy).

7 combined? No way the SEC and ACC get 7 a piece. I agree, though, that the Big 12 will pull more than 4 teams.

there was lots of talk last year about the "weak bubble", especially when some of us were insistent that we were in and others were still claimed we were on the wrong side of the bubble.

this years bubble seems to be setting up the same way, and I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't a consequence of the 3 additional teams as much as just a fluky weak bubble crop.

Hard to tell how many Big 12 gets. Could be only 1 (highly unrealistic), could get 6 with no problem (any more than that would be unlikely).

I think it's a lock for 3. Teams 4-6 may be at a point that they'd have to play their way out of a bid. But that's looking at the league in a vacuum.

Man, on Lanardi's bracketology page, all Iowa fans do is cry about ISU being in and them being out.

Bracketology - NCAA College Basketball Brackets and Predictions - ESPN

I assume this has been posted, but will repost just in case. Lunardi hasn't bought into us yet, that's for sure. Has us playing in versus Illinois and OU, Baylor, and K-State as being in front of us. I don't think Baylor or OU finish in front of us. We're the 2nd or 3rd best team in the big 12... when we play the way we should.

Baylor is riding that road win @ UK while ISU still has no great road/neutral wins. I am boggled at how OU has an RPI of 25, which is the only reason why they're so high (and why RPI is a joke). Hopefully ISU can take advantage by getting two wins against them.

Edit: Lunardi is even confused on OU. Has them as a "sell" in his column and that they're more like an NIT team.

Didn't Iowa just beat Wisconsin and they are a 7 on this bracket? So why are they whining just about the Cyclones being in instead of them? Is ISU their basketball Super Bowl?

Said it before and I'll say it again. Bracketology is garbage. Sure it's sparks interest from fan bases and it's another topic of conversation but it's going to change at least 50 more times from now until the end of the year. I can promise you ISU will be in as a solid seed and after Illinois loses tonight, they won't have a prayer of getting in unless they win the conference tourney.

HN has a thread full of the same type of whining. Some are even claiming a 16 point beat down by a sub-100 team isn't a "bad loss" and comparing the Big XII this year to the Pac-12 of last year.

Shows how much they know. Iowa isn't a sub 100 team yet and they only beat ISU by 9.

:jimlad: It is quickly heading into bad loss territory, though.

You should have done a blind resume comparison, I love those.

Team 2, using Hawk logic today.

Big 12 is getting 5 minimum and maybe 6. Thats just the way its going to shake out. Anyone saying 4 or less is crazy. The Big 12 may lack elite teams but after Kansas there are 5 solid teams that are all tournament worthy, at this point.
