NFL: RG3 Needs total reconstruction

The better question is whether there will be artificial turf in Washington for the opener. You can't grow grass in Washington in January.

Slide RGIII, Slide Can't worry about the extra yard and take a hit against NFL DE's

Green Bay's grass seemed fine, I assume the Redskins could heat their turf too.

Glad Knott did not seem to aggravate his shoulder against Baylor. I don't think we would have got the win without him.

Sucks he's hurt but I don't know how anyone didn't see this coming. His speed makes him special but he isn't cut out to be a running QB in the NFL, he's just doesn't have the size. The good news is he didn't run much in college, he has shown he can be a pass first QB.

Wonder about kapernick in SanFran too. He seems to be noticably bigger? I like the dimension a true dual threat QB brings but if you're investing your largest contracts in that position you gotta know this happens more often than not.

If RG3 doesn't change his aversion to sliding I don't see anyway his career lasts more than 5 years.

RGIII will be on the phone with Adrian Peterson talking about rehab soon

I was listening to Mike & Mike on the way in this morning. I have never heard this before, but whoever the guest was (didn't catch the name) said that still, in 2013, TWO-THIRDS of NFL players who have reconstructive knee surgery NEVER return.

That sounds hard to believe at first glance. But then again, there are quite a few players who aren't big names that you don't realize never come back after that type of injury.

More of that might have to do with their name. If Adrian Peterson would have completely blown out his knee and was dropped by the Vikings, Im sure almost any team would pick him up and give him another chance based off of his name. Now if some third string WR who only plays special teams blew out his knee, I doubt any team would pick him up.

It was mind-bogglingly stupid for him to be on the field. Coaches and doctors get paid to make decisions, and they should have told RG3 "thanks, but no thanks."

Washington needs to do two things:

1) Teach him how to slide.

2) Get rid of that zone read. If he's going to get hit at least do it on broken pass plays. Him taking hits in the run game in addition to scrambles is going to end him.

I bet the stat is true, but misleading since 3rd stringer Joe Shmoe doesn't have James Andrews repairing his knee. The bigger of a star the more the organization is going to spend to get the right help for you.
