Big 12 gettin worked tonight

did u watch any other bowl games with the top sec teams?

florida got blasted by l'ville
lsu got beat by clemson
south carolina was very lucky to beat michigan on a last second td pass
even georgia wasnt that impressive in their win over nebraska

sec and big 12 both had very underwhelming bowl seasons imho

luckily for the sec if they beat notre dame then no one will care how ordinary the rest of their top 10 teams looked

We have some depth, but no really good teams.

Bama, Georgia, S. Carolina, FL, A&M and LSU would all finish between 7-2 and 9-0 in our conference.

KSU and OU would struggle to finish 5-3 in the SEC.

Big 12 is going to be in for a rough time.

OU is going to be down next year. Belldozer at QB is not good and they don't have much for skill players right now. Their defense blows.

Texas has Mack Brown problems, will be fine but not dominate.

WV will blow.
Kansas blows.
Clones won't be great.
Baylor maybe decent.
OSU probably pretty good.
TCU maybe decent.

Amazing that Manziel comes along their first year in the SEC. Can't believe Sherman redshirted him. Sumlin gets all the credit and he didnt even recruit him.

Id say that's selling TCU fairly short.
They played something like 16 freshmen this year. This was a rebuilding year for TCU. And they still got a BWW (Insight) Bowl bid. Not too shabby. (granted they laid an egg in the bowl game)
I think TCU is going to be a legit player in the Big 12 title race for the next several years.

Big 12 had some tough matchups this year in the bowl games. As for other conferences, only the SEC was very impressive.

No need to compare to the Big 10 or the SEC, but we went 2-1 against the Pac which had a major advantage in the rankings over our teams, Stanford barely beat Wisconsin, and USC got beat by a not good GTech. The Big East gets up for bowls very well trying to prove they are worth a damn but is still the Big East. The ACC had Clemson with a notable point win over LSU but other than that were not overly impressive. FSU got handed a win, VT over Rutgers by 3, NC St. lost to Vandy.

Nah. Not very impressive.
Mighty LSU loses.
Mighty Florida loses.
Miss St loses to a team that hasn't won a bowl game since Truman was president.
A&M got lucky drawing Big Game Bob.
SC is very lucky to have beat an average Michigan team.

Yes, id say SEC is the best conference. But im sure they are disappointed with their bowl showing.
The National Title game will probably leave the final taste in everyone's mouths as far as the SEC is concerned. Bama winning is no gimmie.

Yeah, not great on the whole. If you're the best team in the country, you're probably in the SEC..but being in the SEC doesn't mean you're a great team. They have 2-3 **** teams for every elite team.

Texas AM will win a national championship in the next three years, they are destroying Texas and Oklahoma in recruiting and Kevin Sumlin is a hell of a coach.

Recruiting is everything. Just ask Charlie Weiss. Wait, no Lane Kiffin. Check that, Mack Brown and Texas....

Sumlin got a gift in Manziel. You will have no idea how well he can coach until he is gone. Give Mike Stoops another year to fully implement his style with OU, and we will see another great defensive team that rules the conference.

I really think the key to this game was Tony Jefferson. He was two steps slow with his high ankle sprain. A completely healthy Jefferson makes Manziel pay every time he leaves the pocket. I think the dynamic would have been completely different.

I was pretty impressed with the A$M O-line, they did a good job of protecting Manziel most of the night. I could see that the OU d linemen were trying to mantain a position rather than rushing straight in, but still, OU did not get a lot of pressure. If Tony Jefferson was 2 steps slow, then he should not have been on the field.

You don't seem to understand how good Jefferson is. Safety is a position where you make up for athleticism with playing IQ. At that point, even injured, Jefferson's combination of playing IQ and still good physical ability kept him on the field. But you need to be 100% if you are going to stop Manziel. OU only used Jefferson as a spy rarely, but I think a healthier Manziel keeps him in that role almost the whole game.

And then OU got the typical performance from Jones in the second half.

I actually think A/M is worse next year, primarilly because SEC DEs will be getting free runs without Matthews and Joeckel in there.

aTm will do well next year. Look at their schedule:

vs. Rice
Vs. Sam Houston
vs. Alabama
vs. SMU
@ Arkansas
@ Ole Miss
vs. Auburn
vs. Vanderbilt
vs. UTEP
vs. Mississppi State
@ LSU
@ Mizzou

OOC games against Rice, Sam Houston State(just got steamrolled by NDSU in FCS champ game), SMU and UTEP. 4 easy wins. Wish we could do that.

I hear ya! (Im still in favor of keeping the Iowa game though). I think there is a huge difference between 4 non-con games and 3 non-con games, like we have. If you are ISU, who often teeters on 6-6, nine conference games makes things especially difficult.

I really think A&M might end up in the NC game next year.

Its likely if they don't lose guys in the offseason to the NFL and "incidents."

I don't expect Jonny Football to go the full Clarett but something could happen say if he bumps into a cop who is a longhorn fan and dislikes the aggies.

That schedule is perfect for them. They get Bama early on at home and if they win that with Summelin's offense they should be able to put up plenty of points to win the games after that until LSU, and they could be going into Baton Rouge to play a 2 loss LSU team so they could represent the west even if they drop that one. No Florida, SC, or Georgia is a gift if you duck them being in SEC West isn't bad at all.

In comparison to the other conferences bowl performance, the SEC was impressive. They played the toughest slate of games with so many highly ranked teams.

It's a matter of timing, of course, but 3 of those 4 are C-USA teams — ISU was 1-1 vs. that conference this season.

You're probably talking more about 4 non-conference/8 conference vs. 3/9. If so, ISU had 3 serious chances vs. KSU in past 4 seasons, another vs. KU in Rhoads' first year; 2 at home vs. TT and West Virginia this season.
