***Official Post Liberty Bowl Game Thread***

It's time to try something new. Instead of lining up our RB 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage let's back him up to 15.

Just no leadership on offense at all. You don't see that on the defensive side. Yes the defense got beat up today, but over the course of the year they came out with a nasty attitude, thinking they could stop people, were physical, and in the right spots to make plays.

Offense is not physical, not nasty, confused, weak, no identiy....not in the right spots...nothing.

The difference in the two units is really amazing.

Are you kidding me?

Do you remember what we came from before Paul Rhoads?! We have appeared in 12 bowl games IN OUR HISTORY. 1/4 of these are under Rhoads in 4 years. That's impressive. The fact that we are complaining about a "losing season" says something. Would you complain about this/ not expect it under McCarney? Under Chizik? That's right, he's raised our expectations.

No I'm not kidding you. And yes, I remember where ISU came from before CPR. ISU was at the bottom of the Big 12...which, unfortunately, is pretty much where ISU is today. Well, not exactly at the very bottom, but 9th in a conference of 10. And yes, ISU has cut down on the blowouts, and is regularly beating Iowa now, but even Chizik beat Iowa once.

Going to bowl games at 6-6 is ok, but not really that impressive. In fact, for a majority of ISU's football history, 6-win teams rarely made bowl games.

I would guess that most ISU fans' expectations have always been that ISU should usually beat teams from non-BCS conferences. Or at the least, ISU should be competitive with them and not be man-handled by them (which, in case you didn't watch the game today, is precisely what happened).

I'm PROUD to be Cyclone with a 6-7 season.

That's fine. I'm not going to take my Cyclone stickers down or stop wearing my Cyclone gear because ISU lost today, but our pride isn't particularly relevant. As the color guy pointed out several times today during the broadcast, it's hard to build a program with losing seasons. ISU is now working on three consecutive losing seaons in a row. If CPR can't change that trend, ISU is going to start regressing. And I'm not so sure that today's game wasn't a regression. At least Rutgers was a BCS team.

Well, the silver lining in all of this, if there is any, is that the fans came out in droves and traveled well. I loved hearing all about the good things people of Memphis had to say about our fans, and about the good times everyone is having there. I hope all the fans in Memphis are out having a good time and spending a lot of money. Because win or lose, the fact that we traveled this well will mean a lot in the future when we look toward other bowl games. Obviously the team and coaching has a long ways to go, but the fans did their part, and it will pay off.

Thanks and kudos to everyone who made the trip.

Biggest disappointment was the "deer-in-the-headlights" game management from Richardson. It seemed like he was thrown in the game as a surprise to him.

And why did the whole team run out of gas after Q1??

[h=2]It wasn't the shoes. Maybe we wore the wrong pants.

So, the scoreboards at the stadium didn't show stats at all for some reason, so I'm back in the hotel room and decided to look up the box score. My eyes were not prepared.....what has been seen cannot be unseen.

9 first downs?! 268 total yards!??! Against a CUSA team? C'mon now, this was even more embarrassing than I thought as I sat there in the stands with my onions soaked. If that wasn't enough, I see that we couldn't even muster 100 yards rushing as a TEAM, with Richardson being the leading rusher with a paltry 46 yards. Something HAS to change in our offensive scheme. Has to. We can't win games when we're just throwing darts at our offensive play sheet, hoping that something will work.

In the meantime, Tulsa blew our defense's doors off with 317 yards on the ground. Inexcusable. These fans deserved better, and so did the outgoing seniors.

Yeah the no stats thing annoyed us too. It just seem like everyone was having an off day. Heck, Kirby had a 36 yard average on his 8 punts with only one being downed inside the 20.

CPR had a golden opportunity last year to start righting the ship through the hire of the offensive coordinator. We know how that turned out. In present day college football, you don't get a lot of chances to right the ship. He needs to start making his chances and corrections count...

CPR thinks QB is the problem when it's really the OC, But when it comes to coaches he will stick with them, it's just like how KF was with KOK.

I think they were trying to be merciful. It's the south, you don't make fun of your guests.

What an awful game. I was worried it would happen, since we've been terrible the past two bowls under Rhoads. But damn. It was worse than I expected. I'll be very disappointed/****** off if there aren't major changes made on the offensive side this offseason, but I doubt CPR fires/demotes Mess. Hopefully loyalty to failed coaches isn't his downfall. If nothing else, Bill Bleil needs to be fired.

Memphis has been great though. It was awesome to see our side of the Liberty Bowl packed with 25,000+ in Cardinal and Gold and having Beale (and everywhere else in the city) filled with Clones. Our fanbase is incredible.

Not really game related, but the Kiss Cam was pretty awkward for just about everyone.
