Does this bother anyone else? It really bothers me...which is a good thing. Saying this team could have been 8-4 isnt an overstatement, but to me it is stretching things and trying for a moral victory. And thats what bothers me. We are finally good enought to make bowl games, knock off highly ranked teams, and compete against everyone. We have nothing to be ashamed of anymore. We dont have to look for moral victories or hoping we dont get blown out of games. We want to WIN every came we play now! And we had chances to win almost every game this season, but didn't. I don't want to have to say we could have or should have been 8-4, I want to BE 8-4. Please stop saying this Chris we are now better than needing moral victories. We need to take the next step as a program. And I believe we will. Until the just be happy with what we are and look forward to what we could be next year.

We had two drives to take the lead late against KState and blew them both.
We had the lead with 6 mins left against WVU and blew it.

I agree with CW that this team could have easily been 8-4 with a couple more plays going our way.
With that said, we could also be 5-7 if Jake hadn't gotten that interception against Iowa.

So, now it's a problem for CW to say that the defense was good enough for 8-4? Is he supposed to be more pessimistic? Are you blaming him for seeing and believing?

That thread I have sitting in wait is getting closer.................

The loss Friday was devastating and left a pit in my stomach. We lacked a true quarterback all season, this is an issue we should not have all next season. When you play three quarterbacks, you dont win. We had a better defense than TTU and Oklahoma State, prior to injuries mounting, but they had better quarterbacks. That in itself won them games. We have a lot coming back for next season. We should start 3-0 again and hope we can improve from there, but the quarterback decision needs to be made right after spring ball, IMO.

Lacked the playmaker at QB vs. KSU (although it appears we addressed that issue). Same thing vs. WVU. Just don't have anybody like Tavon out there. We'll win that game when we do.

We have play makers in the backfield.

Actually, we could have easily been 9-3. Tech, KSU and WVU games were all right there for us to win, and all on our home field. The inability of the offense to come up with key 4th quarter scoring drives was the difference between a very special season and an average one.

Take away the long run and Austin was held in check, we did better against him than almost everyone else on their schedule.

Yup offense, offense, offense. Thats what this league is about. You can hold people below 30 but can you score 30? Our defense will be middle of the pack next season, we just need to score more than 30 a game. I think Richardson is the man for this offense in the future but he will need to be able to adjust to the elements here in Iowa. I doubt he has ever played in the elements he did on Friday.

WVU is the only game I really feel is a "coulda/shoulda" game. Really had so many chances down the stretch. Tech and KState were just the better team that day. In KState's case clearly the better team on the year. With WVU it was really there for the taking and ISU would have had the better season if it goes in their win column.

One interesting thing is in the six wins, ISU was clearly the better team head to head, even against Baylor and TCU who won some big games this year. The Iowa game was probably ISU's worst game of the year (at least OK State and Texas have firepower) and they still won on the road.

This. Thats my only problem with what CW said. Had ISU had consistent QB play all year, I don't think its a stretch to say they could of been 9-3 at all.

you could go the other way is well, we got TCU at the perfect time if we played them again I think we get beat...

X amount of plays from whatever=fan forums all over the nation.

Just glad to see we fixed the turnover story from the start if the year. The numerous three and outs after a first down running play were too much to handle. Glad to see Eddie can hit the 50 yard fg. That is a novelty. Missed Givens and Knott in the last game.
