No team scored over their average against us with the exception of KU. How does that do for ya? Take Johnson, Smith and Sims off the 09 defense and tell me they would have approached this one. It's blatantly obvious to see that this defense is willing to give up yards, just not TDs. Messingham also isn't getting better. Outside of Ku have we scored over an opponents allowed average yet? I don't think so.
 
We just held a super explosive offense to far less than their averages... without three of the best defensive players on the team. I think you must not know what the team is really doing.
 
To the OP, STFU. When your D is on the field most of the game they're going to give up some points. But Wally has done a great job. If the O were on the field longer the D could be fresher. But the bend-don't-break works well. Let 'em have the yards, just not the score. And we held them to far fewer points than anyone else. And we should have won.
 
The only thing, really, is late in the game, we should have been selling out on the run. There really is not excuse for sitting in our base D with the game on the line and 2 minutes left on the clock. If they beat us with a pass, so be it, but make them have to pass.

Other than that, it just proves that we need a better offense.
 
OP got owned in his onw thread. Happy with the D all year outside of texas game.

WVU hung 49 on OU.

70 on Baylor

49 on UT.

38 on TCU.

34 on OSU.

And their coach hadn't figured out how to use T. Austin.

We should have tied the game late in the 4th. That's not on Burnham.

Whatever dude. It was a team loss tonight as it is every night. I am just tired of losing at freaking home.

We are the only team in the Big 12 to hold each conference opponents under 35.
 
Nearly every week, I become more and more convinced that the OP originally had a different login name, and it was a forced change based on posting performance.

Epic stupidity. Using this logic wally's d did enough to hold wvu to 24 if it weren't for the missed tackle on the long run.

100% accurate. Completely idiotic to put any sort of blame on Wally. Playing a great offense and missing 3 key starters.
 
Woodys fumble lost the game.


WVA should have scored on a punt return and did score on a long run...they have gamebreakers and those guys got them 7 like they were always going to ISU is lucky they didn't give up more than 7 points on huge plays honestly.


ISU did what it could to win that game. Arceo hit an upright. And Woody coughed up the game. Richardson kept up with Smith. And the D got some stops. WVA showed up and played well ISU did great to play the game they did. It just sucks the scrub cult hero former walk on running back lost the team the game. But he gets way too many carries and it lost the team the chance to get to 8 wins and a good bowl.

White shouldn't lose carries to Woody but he does, I understand the kid has done plenty of nice things in his time but he isn't the type of player you take out big time programs with.

If Woody walked on at WVA would he get a single meaningful carry his entire career?

Giving him those carries was stupid it wasn't even at the 1 or 2 yard line.
 
I honestly have no idea why stones are being thrown at our defense, they have been extremely good year. Today is not indicative of how good they have been as we are down a few solid players, and yet we held a powerful WV offense to 31. Messingham's offense is light years more worthy of questioning than Burnham's defense.

Yeah D was great. You aren't going to hold that team to under 30 and they almost did.

Noone likes to admit the cult hero lost the team the game. It sucks and is a real shame but its the fact. WVA came to play and the D and Richardson did everything they could to pull it out and WVA was handed the game with a horrible fumble.
