Paul Rhoads.

Get him down on the plains immediately.

Plays physical defensive football and favors a spread offensive style.

Proven that he can clean up the mess left in CGC's wake.

Will have 10x the talent at his disposal.

You had to figure this was bound to happen sooner rather than later...

"The Plains" is the nickname for the Auburn area, maybe just their campus, but commonly used to reference AU.

I might give up on the humanity of college football if that scenario happened.

Seriously, I agree. If Rhoads takes a hike, I think many, many fans will give up that we can ever get over the hump.

I lived in Auburn, Alabama for some time and just moved back to Iowa (thank goodness).

"The Plains" is referring to two things. Auburn used to be known as "The Plainsman" which referred to a poem written by Oliver Goldsmith in 1760 regarding the destruction of trees/forests for the use of farming. This occured around the Auburn area which made it "the plains". To this day, the school newspaper is "The Plainsman" but is only published once a week in paper form. The second reason is that they have no understanding of what an actual plain is as most in Alabama think Iowa is the place where potatoes are grown and where Lebron James is from.

Chizik sucks and Charlie Strong will be #1 on their list.

I would throw large amounts of cash on the fact that he will not be the next Auburn coach.

I couldn't agree more. He has turned down more money in the past to get a new scoreboard and pay his assistants more money. Auburn isn't the place to be and would you want to replace a coach that was fired two seasons after winning a national championship? The expectations at Auburn are to be Alabama...which is why I will always "Roll Tide".

If for no other reason, I don't think CPR would feel comfortable showing his face in central Iowa again if he followed the Chiz to Auburn.

Doubt it, If Rhoads took the job and did not perform up to their standards in like 2-3 years they will dispose of him just like the Chiz. Rhoads is a much better coach and people person versus the Chiz. I am really hoping this does not happen.

Its nice to see him get recognized, but at the same time I feel like the clock is ticking for his time here before some school comes calling with a ton of money to throw at him.

They are firing a guy that won it all two years ago. He was there for 4 seasons. There is no rebuilding, it's win and win all the time or you are fired.

Some people just aren't about the cash. He has said countless times he wants to build a championship team here and I will take his word for it.

I will as well, but in the back of your mind isnt there a little possibility of it happening? Rhoads is a different coach then most and person as well he lives comfortable on his salary here and the facilities going up is a good sign I hope for him to stay here.
