Orangebloods.com - Mack Brown expresses concerns about LHN

Some highlights from Mack Brown's complaints about the LHN:

"Brown even said if a player needs to have an ankle taped, the UT medical staff will tape both ankles so anyone watching LHN won't know if a player is injured."

"Brown said he's spending six hours a week minimum preparing, participating or traveling to the studio for shows that air on LHN."

"But I've got a microphone on every time I talk to the team," Brown said. "So I'm sure other coaches are sitting there watching me coach our team."

"Brown added, "I didn't ask for it. We were given a deal we had no input in."

Please **** off, Mack. You're ******** about a deal that gives your team an unparalleled advantage over every other school in the country. A deal that pays Texas $15 million a year. A deal that should attract the best recruits, allow Texas to build the best facilities and hire the best assistants; and you're complaining that you have cameras following you?

Its amazing he is still employed. Texas has every advantage, yet he has only 2 conference titles in 15 years... and now he dares whine about the inconveniences of one of the things that brings those huge advantages?

Still not sure this individual school network thi.g is going to work really well. It might work for notre dame.

He can send it to us, along with the paychecks if it sucks to bad. It does bring up an interesting topic though. When you sell your soul, do you get to keep anything?

The best part of all of this is only 3 carriers have picked this up...and are not huge players down here as far as cable goes. No other cable network wants to carry this...and I find it funny they cannot even get it picked up in Texas from major companies.

No coach gets lhn, so how are they watching it?

NO Coaches get the LHN. Lets just say that NOBODY in the whole fricking town of Austin plus its surroundings gets that Gad Awful Excuse for a Network.

I dont think that espn could have ever envisioned a colossal flop like the hornie network, at 15 million a year with NO ONE watching its a real belly flopping beast that stinks like dead fish rotting.

Just goes to show that Cable Networks do NOT want Individual Teams but the whole fricking conference ie the B1G....

In other w ords the Cable Networks want tv viewers by the boatload, & thats all they want.

It's a battle of wills right now between the carriers and ESPN, and Mac's teams aren't helping ESPN's cause right now. For football, UT is out of the national title hunt and a most likely out of the Big 12 conference title hunt, with a good chance of at least two more losses. Thats keep fan pressure off of the carriers to pick up LHN. If this continues, ESPN will have to give in and drop the per-subscriber charge.

And here's the thing....no one wants it, not even the average t-shirt UT fan. When there is ONE football game a year on it (well, only one that matters anyway), no one wants to pony the extra $$$ in their cable bill for it. And no one gives a damn down here about basketball, so even if all the MBB games were on it, it would be moot.

I'll have to disagree with you a bit on this. I know several Longhorn fans who would like to have LHN for...wait for it...Longhorn baseball. But not willing to switch to U-Verse or FIOS to get it...

Didn't the Big Ten Network struggle it's first couple of years? Weren't cable networks reluctant to pick it up? The dominoes affect had to happen before it became a success.
