I was at the bar so I could not hear the reasoning.

It was clearly forward, but Boykin was behind the line of scrimmage...so they said it was a shovel pass? If this was the case, there were at least 2 linemen downfield blocking which should have been a penalty for illegal man downfield and negated the TD. Am I missing something?

It was a forward pass and it didn't look like he crossed the line of scrimmage. The lineman downfield is not reviewable. That needed to be called live.

I agree. I couldn't believe how much they were getting away with holding in the first half and they were doing a lot of late hitting and holding our players down after tackles. The two calls on our late drive were WAY overdue.

Yep you're right. The announcers kept saying if he was behind the line of scrimmage then making a forward pass is legal, but that's only if the linemen were pass blocking and that wasn't the case. I was thinking this the entire time after the play and they never mentioned it. It may not be reviewable, but they need to know what they're talking about.

what calls are they complaining about?

Barnett did a great acting job for the second personal foul call on that drive where they had 2.

It is silly they are arguing the first personal foul call. They believe the defensive player thought Barnett fumbled it so he shouldn't have been charged with a foul. However, if he did fumble it, why would he still dive on the quarterback? Just makes no sense.

The second personal foul call, IMO, was a make up call.

I can forgive the refs for that one. The play was not intended to be a pass. It took a replay to determine that it was a pass. It was very close. There were plenty of other bad calls. A missed penalty isn't super egregious.

the first PF was a bad call. Ball was live and the guy was diving for the ball.

There was at least one thing illegal on the TD. I think it was a false start plus you had illegal men downfield.

We need to catch a few breaks and winning one on the road with a break or two is great. They do even out by the end of the season. 4-1. Take it and get out of town.

speaking of missed calls, how can a defender run into a punter and not draw a flag, and no i dont think he got a piece of the ball

That play- Boyken was behind the LOS and pitched it forward- the person that caught the ball was also behind the LOS- the linemen can be across the LOS if the "pass" is recieved behind the LOS, a la a screen pass.

The only thing i can think of is that the refs thought he was blocked into the punter.

Refs blew an equal number of calls on both sides. Refs don't lose you games by multiple scores where you never have the lead. The play in question here was a shovel pass since he was behind the line. I thought it sucked live, but it was the right call on replay.

Agreed. There were some egregious misses on both sides.
