Jake Waters

I've had my fill of juco qbs the last year n a half, no thanks. Doesn't look like he fits our system anyway.

Per twitter, IWCC QB Jake Waters just received an offer from K-State today. He played for CB St. Alberts in high school.

Anyone know if we are interested?

Also, sounds like Akron and N.C. State have offered according to this article.

Iowa Western QB Jake Waters has N.C. State, Akron offers

ISU is certainly aware of him and looked at him coming out of high school. I hope we offer. Smart, sees the field well, tough and by all accounts, a good kid. I hate to see him go to K-State and end up beating us. He can play. Sounds like lots of offers are coming in this week.

Next year we will have 5 scholarship QBs. We don't need another.

If you think this guy has a chance to beat your 5 scholarship QBs, then you take him. The QB position is way to valuable. You have no idea what you have behind Barnett. Not saying they're even looking at Waters, but I'm just disagreeing with your comment.

He's a pro-style QB and the last time I checked we run a spread offense, so...

Played against him in high school, he can definitely run. St Alberts ran a lot of option/read option when he was there. Granted I'm not saying running in small school football is the same as running in the big 12, but he's definitely a good enough athlete to run the spread.

Good lord people some of you need to open your eyes. most of his stats from this year are in the first half alone. IWCC is an amazing JuCo football team, and Jake Waters would easily fit our team. He would adjust fairly well. He can run, he's accurate, and he's smart.

Sounds like he would start for us on Saturday if he was on our team.

if Bill Snyder says he can play, I don't think anybody around these parts can debate that.

"You" may not, but I'm pretty sure CPR does.

If he decides he needs an immediate impact QB for next season, I'm sure he'll look for one. The man does what it takes.

I may have a inside track on Jake Waters. Several schools have offered him, like N.C. State, K State, as well as a few lesser known D-1 teams.
Several other "southern" schools may be lining up. My source has indicated 2-3 SEC schools are making calls to him.
I can tell you one thing for sure is that he and his brother Matt would both be wearing Cyclone uniforms today if they would have been asked, coming out of High School. I believe both would have joined ISU as Invited Walk-Ons. His brother Matt is on scholarship at Ohio University.
I have to disagree with the ney-sayers....this kid canplay, flat out can help the program.

I'll take as many QB's as we have to until we find one that can compete week in and week out in the Big 12. QB's that don't work out can be converted to other position's, too many QB's is never a problem. It's already been discussed that Hodge may have been recruited to play elsewhere and as little as we know about the young QB's we need to take what we can get to find someone to compete with the offenses in our conference.
