Simple solutions for everyone involved here:
1. Go to the ISU game. You're a Cyclone, for **** sake. Act like one.
2. Everyone cheering for UNI, **** YOU. We want Iowa to win every remaining game so that our SOS looks good.

He can say what he wants. I can understand his point because UNI has beaten ISU several times over the years adn Iowa has been the flagship program of the state of Iowa, no doubt about that. But honestly don't care what he thinks or says, it has zero impact on ISU.
This. I wouldn't even mind if he made a comment about trying to prove that UNI is the top school in the state this year, but he is too busy on his knees in front of Barta and Iowa to stand up for the school he currently coaches for. Or at least that's my interpretation of his quote.

Right. The Big 12 provides all the SOS we need. If Iowa looks like a cupcake, we have a top 20 schedule. If not, top 5. Either way, it's as difficult as anybody could want, and probably more.

Iowa hasn't been the better team since Fry retired 15 years ago. Know how I know? THE HEAD TO HEAD RECORD!!!! Make those statements 15 years ago and you are absolutely correct, if we're doing things that way France is also has the better military traditionally than the United States.
LETS ASSUME A RECRUIT TODAY, which is the basis of Farley's comments wants to go to the 'pro'(better) team.
-Assume a kid is old enough to start following football at the age of 4
-A SR in high school today was 4 in 1998 meaning ISU is 9-6 against Iowa since they started following football
-ISU won when they were 4,5,6,7,8,11,13,17,18
Guess what!!! The average high school senior football recruit isn't looking at 1983-1997 going damn look at that, Iowa is the team for me because they owned this series for the first 3 years I was alive and the 12 years before I was born. That is ancient history to a high school Senior.
It's time to quit acting like we aren't the biggest show in town because Iowa had a 15 year winning streak that ended when the freshman on the field were 3 years old. Iowa State is the better team, we are the better program. Iowa has had the benefit of a weaker conference without a championship game which has given them some better records and some better bowl games. They are not the better program (at least they haven't been for the bulk of the time a recruit was alive)

This might be one of the most embarrassing threads ever in these forums. It should be titled "Watch ISU fans sound like Hawk fans".

The easy (and unfortunately true) rebuttal to that is that in that same stretch the recruit has seen ISU struggle to consistently have an overall winning record and get into post-season play, while Iowa plays in a bowl most of those years, including a couple Orange Bowls.
The difference is that by the time we get to be as bad as Iowa fans (and we probably will
, sorry) most of our fanbase will have earned to right by putting up with years of struggling to get to the point where we can walk around feeling superior to our in-state rivals.

An argument that doesn't take into account strength of schedule. Farley was talking about the 'pro' or better team IMO. There is no better measure of that other than head to head record. Everything else scews it. After all the whole point of two teams playing is to determine who is better.
But since you brought it up. In that same time period
Iowa has gone to 11 bowl and are 6-5 (78% of the time)
Iowa State has gone to 7 bowl games and are 3-4 (50% of the time)
Advantage Iowa. But if you're talking pro/better team then. Using the bowl game measure Nevada is superior to ISU and only 3 bowl games under Iowa since then. Doesn't say anything about which team is better.
Why Farley said this? Stroking the egos of the fans, coaches, players from UI. He's letting his players know they have a chance, but it's an FBS opponent. Just a little psycho-babble.
