Turn on the USC game. We'll look very similar. Differences, up and down stripes on jerseys that match the pants, Iowa State on the jerseys and I State logo on helmet. Otherwise, almost identical down to the grey facemasks and stripes on pants. I love the look!

Hayden Fry copied the Steelers uniforms exactly when he was coach. The Steelers were the dominate team in the NFL then, and he wanted that image for Iowa. You could argue we are using the same strategy.

Oh no, their helmets don't match their Jersey's perfectly! Looks like a lot of people are going to hate this look.
Has anyone seen or heard anything about basketball uni changes? I would assume they'll be the darker "cardinal" color next year too. I'd sure like to see what (if any) the plan is.
USC has a cartoonish mascot on their helmet instead of block USC letters. They better change that, as nobody will ever be able to identify them without USC stamped on their helmets...

i get your sarcasm. But, anyone that thinks we are in the same league with USC and should just be "known" is crazy. We are Iowa State and fact is we need a simple dumb logo to market not some crazy cartoon people don't understand.
And also, from a post above...I don't think we are copying USC so much as going back to colors and a look from the late '70's when we where fairly successful. I think it is either coincedence that USC looks similar or THEY copied our 1977 uniforms.
I think the logo on the helmet doesn't look as good and might be difficult to see from a distance. If the logo was traced with some white, it would be much better. If you look at the logo, it looks good with a white background.
The USC jerseys seem to have a more maroonish tint, where ours will be more red/cardinal shade. Design may be similar but I dont think too many people will be getting USC jerseys by mistake for their b-days this year. I dont think they look that similar in color scheme.
I'm pretty sure this has been brought up before, but Pete Carroll was an assistant coach at ISU around the time that we were using that color scheme. So, maybe they actually DID steal it from us.
USC's uniforms haven't changed much. Carroll was an assistant in the late 1970's, I think 1978 (?). If they did steal ours which I'm kind of doubting, it would have to go back further than Pete Carroll. This is OJ Simpson in 1968.

The new logo and new jerseys are REALLY growing on me. I think we will become a lot more noticeable logo and color-wise. I am still VERY partial to the throwbacks, I mean just look at my sig pic, those are just so tight.
I would tend to agree. Although they are close, I think there is a noticeable difference.

It looks to me like our Cardinal "Shade" is closer to USC's Cardinal.
Better, "defined" logo and info from the identity pdf. Not only is the cardinal different, so is the gold.
