Jantz named the starter

Everything is lining up for Jantz to have a great season. Hes obviously very talented. The biggest growth from a player is after their second spring practice. The offense will be simplified, while being the same basics... he should have no problems having it down now. Hes completely healthy. The offense will be more run based, and our OC wont be out smarting himself.

Run it down their throats. Call a few play action deep passes when they start stacking the box and repeat. This defense and running game will keep us in nearly every game. If we need a hero in the fourth quarter, Jantz will be there.

CPR also said specifically that Mess had been working with Steele on his running game. I would assume that means a lot of work on reads for the zone read, so that could be a much improved aspect of his game. Combine that with the called QB runs and his scrambling ability and he could have a lot of running yards.

We could also see JB a few times as well if Jantz gets hit too much though.

I have a feeling that JB might not be the starter next year either. We have 2 extremely good QB's right behind him that might prevent him from being the man.

If that happens, JB will join Marvelous Marv Seiler at #2 on the list of the most celebrated ISU QBs who started the least ISU games.

You are the new KG-Cyclones....only more cool.

Nealy hasn't proved anything on the field yet, so he isn't a "stud" yet. I doubt Nealy gets much time this year.

I'm just saying that, as CPR ran thru the offensive and defense positions, he said ISU has four good running backs. Don't recall saying he was a stud, but I'll bet he gets more playing time than you think.

I imagine that because of the depth we have at RB, it wouldn't have mattered who was to open the season at QB for us this year. CPR probably just threw a coin in the air and called the victor.

Nonetheless, it's SJ's show now. Go get 'em!

Your avatar is throwing me into confusion. I keep thinking you're Cydkar.

im really excited that steele is starting. When hes on his game, we can compete with everybody. It is more of a risk-reward situation, when jared is more of a steady eddy type player

I was going to be upset either way! i guess i would have rather have JB start because he is only a soph. my point is that by the time JB is a senior he would have a ton of experience. I would rather go through growing pains with JB he would blossom by his jr year. two good years rather than maybe an above average year from Jantz

Just like Meyer and Arnaud "Blossomed" I love them both, but they were each more impressive early in their careers than their senior campaigns.

Would have been nice if they got to work with someone like Messingham where players and position groups actually have a track record of improving under him.
