I know CF has to pay the bills and keep the site up. I don't mind the banners and such around the site, but when I have to watch political ads to see Rhoads' interview after today's scrimmage, I wasn't a big fan. I see enough of that on TV. What does everyone else think?

Agreed. But how would we know of the oppositions evil plan to destroy America without these trustworthy and noble ads?!

Not trying to defend politicians here, but I really think they get a bad rap because 95% of the time all we ever here about them is, "so and so voted for this tax-increase" or "so and so doesn't believe you should be able to do x, y, and z"

Every political ad anymore is taken so out of context its absurd. Regardless of party affiliation, if one candidate came out tomorrow and said that they weren't going to run anymore negative campaign ads, they may not have my vote but they would sure have my attention.

I hope one of these days someone takes the high road...

I'd like to see the videos hosted on youtube again - they worked a lot better and I can watch them on my iPad, Android phone etc. I understand it is not a revenue maker, but I'd rather have the versatility of the YouTube videos.

I agree with the op that all the banners and ads aren't that bad and the commercial before a video is a little annoying. However, I'm totally ok with it and get a little annoyed when people complain about it. How can anyone be entitled to complain about something that is free? This site is so good is should be a pay site.

P.S. To the O.P. I realize you weren't complaining and were just giving and asking for input, but others complain and its annoying.

I'm used to adds for videos before or during. At least there weren't any during. More money means better site.

First of all, we cannot control what ads play before the videos.

The reason we switched to this video player is simple. Revenue. But we're not pocketing this revenue. We're using it to pay off the state of the art video camera that we just purchased to enhance CFTV. We're also paying our contributors/staff to go out and get you more video.

I apologize if the political stuff offended you but it helps pay for more content for you the user, at no cost at all.

I've got no problem with it Chris at all. I understand this site is free and I would like it to stay that way, so whatever you've got to do to keep things up and running and cover your costs, I'm willing to roll with the punches. If I've got to watch an annoying political ad, so be it. Now, if for instance I had to watch that stuff prior to video on a premium pay-site like Cyclonereport when I pay something like $100/year in subscriptons, I would be slightly annoyed.

As for the youtube thing, I definitely prefered it there too as I was able to watch the videos on my android, but again, if it comes down to a revenue thing, I'm okay rolling with the punches.

On another note, nobody responded to my thread about my cyclonefanatic android app not working since we've switched to 3.0. Is the app no longer compatible? Is there something new I need to download or something to make it work?

Thank you for understanding and trust me, I'd rather use YouTube too. This new player takes me probably 3 times the amount of time to get one of those posted but YouTube is a bit greedy when it comes to revenue.

As far as the app goes, we're working on that. It's currently not compatible with this site and we're looking into different ways to go from a mobile perspective right now. I'll keep you updated.

Disregard my earlier question on the android app. I now see the answer on a new separate thread posted after my thread.

I like the video quality. That was very good and is an improvement over Youtube videos, except maybe for some of Rhoads' locker room speeches. Like I said, I know CF has bills to pay and can't pick who pays the bills with their ads. I know those political ads will be gone in 3 months. I won't miss those ads, especially after the Olympics on NBC. Keep on improving the site and the quality of the videos.

Yeah. I know CF has to pay the bills, and I do like free. I'd just rather see Ames businesses or beer or pizza or other ads to political ads. Maybe some gameday deals on stuff in Ames? :jimlad:

It is free so really I see no reason to complain about much. If I was paying a monthly fee then I feel I can complain. The new site is nice and I enjoy it. The videos are a nice change and in HD also.

The little nit picks that some complain about on here is laughable.
