***Official Opening Olympic Ceremonies***

So far this performance by all of those people is boring me to sleep. At least Beijing had some cool drummers and acrobats, this is like watching a high school play from 1800.

I don't think they're even trying to live up to China's (at least not yet) - but so far it's been very cool in it's own right.

They showcased their own country in their own way. It's completely different from Beijing, but they had a little fun with it.

If they're doing a history lesson, they should have included the Empire-wide abolition of slavery.

I told revkah that I expect an American flag to appear and overshadow every British thing. I might be expecting too much.

That, my friend, would be a thing of beauty.

That wouldn't happen until after the WWII memorial.

It was a slow start, but I enjoyed seeing the different sites in the UK as well as parts of the history there.

They said on the pre-show that Danny Boyle knew they could never top Beijing and was not going to try, he felt because they made their's so over the top that he could do this one more about them and not try to compete. It has been good in concept, but a little slow so far.

Musco in Oskaloosa has done the lighting for the events by the way. I have a friend that has been there for the past 6-8 weeks setting up with them.
