More doom and gloom for the Big East?

Makes sense. Why take on that travel schedule if there's no AQ anymore, and other schools like Louisville are indicating they want out too (which will diminish the tv money benefits the big east had)

As a football program Boise probably outclasses what's going to be left of the Big East anyway, or a conference made up of MWC/CUSA Texas schools would get as much national respect as the new look Big East.

Remember two years ago when we were thrilled about the prospect of joining the Big East?

:err:

Was anyone really "thrilled" about it? I remember hoping desperately, that we had a landing spot there if everything went to pot, but my main hope was that the Big XII would survive. I don't think I was ever thrilled at the Idea of joining the Big East though. It was definitely a step down from where we were at.

Maybe not necessarily thrilled, but excited we supposedly wouldn't be left out. There were a handful of people excited about the possibility of having a landing spot, but like you said, people just wanted to see the Big 12 survive.

If you browse this thread you see people posting about how it would be a good thing for ISU. This was also at the time we thought the Big 12 was toast so you can't blame them.

Big East will split IMO. Non-football schools forming a BB conference again and football schools finding something to do IMO.

Just think what that FB conference would look like. Maybe Rutgers and UCONN, maybe Louisville but probably not. No Boise. The members would be USF, Cincy, SMU, UCF, Houston, Navy, Memphis. Who else? La Tech? NIU? ECU? FIU/FAU? That's a mid-major conference no better than the MWC. Ouch.
