Even though I've always hated the Yankees, I've always respected him. It's crazy he's been as good as he has for as long as he has.

The Yankees could probably get Marmol right now for a good prospect or two.

I was at a sports bar tonight and I didn't see this! FAK!!!!!!!!!!!!! ACL? Doing what? I guess I can look it up.

Edit: Shagging fly balls....double FAK!!!!!!!

People who call him stupid for shagging flies are idiots! Every pitcher in the business is out there shagging before games!

And it's something he had been doing forever. He hadn't been on the DL since 2003, so obviously it was doing just fine for him. Just a fluke thing.

I know that, it just sucks that is what took him out. Getting older does that. I'm 33 and have rotator cuff tendonitis from beer league volleyball.

Edit: I played baseball, pitched and 3rd base, also golfed for years, never a problem till last year. Mo has been rock solid for NY majority of his career. Just a ******, non dramatic way to do it is all.

what a horrible way to end a career, that cant be it. I would feel bad even though i dislike the yankees

He was shagging balls but he tried to get a ball that was above his head. Not saying it's dumb, but just let it go behind your head. Looks nasty on on TV.... Probably the greatest closer of all time and his career ends in batting practice.

We would take a bag of balls for Marmol at this point if Yanks pick up some of his remaining contract.
Yanks bullpen is loaded, this obviously hurts but they have better options in there already then Marmol would be with Robertson and Soriano.

Yeah I agree. My only hope as a Cubs fan is the Yankees Pitching coach, Larry Rothschild, was with Marmol for a long time so maybe he thinks he can "fix" him.

141 ip in the postseason. 0.70 era. absolutely absurd stats. greatest closer ever without any doubt. sad if this ends his career

i heard an interview once with jeter - jeter said rivera was the best athlete on the team (at one point in his career - this interview was several years ago)

The Yankees want absolutely nothing with the Cubs bullpen, we got it. If anything, steal Dumpster away to a team that can give him run support, still ain't happening!

The 12-year old Yankee fan that still resides inside me (the one with the Boy Scout scrapbook full of Mickey Mantle clippings) is crying. The 60-year old Yankee fan on the outside is just sad. This is no way for his career to end.
