Will the Hawks ever beat us in mens basketball? What has it been 3-4 years now?

I think they will be competitive and hope both teams make expected tournament appearances here on out. But Fred is 2-0 vs Fran. Wooooooooo hooooooooo!
 
oh boy you are going to stir up a hornets nest with that question. yes they will beat us....I kind of see it in relation to the football games, except isu on the winning side
 
KF was 2-0 against Rhoads before this year. I wouldn't say 2-0 is domination. I do think that after next year it will be a "whoever is at home wins" kinda thing. I think we'll get them next year yet.

This. These are going to be two very even, and very good programs, and soon.

I agree. I think we keep bringing them in, though not as many as we have been. I would think 1 a year would be enough. I feel that Fred just finds the best talent available, regardless of Transfer/JUCO/freshman.

And that's totally fine. It's very difficult to sustain success by bringing in a boatload of transfers every year. For one thing, you can't effectively plan out your classes, because you don't know who's going to be available. Sometimes guys like Royce and Allen are all over the place. Other years, there's nothing. You've got to be able to have your foundation in high school recruiting, unless you're cheating.

And I think that's been Hoiberg's plan from the beginning. Obviously, if you can get the kind of players he's brought in, you get them. But leaning to heavily on that method year after year will eventually bite you hard in the ***.

Tork, I know that you know this, but I will remind you anyway, FOUR highschool players are the incoming class for next year....

Fred is never not going to take the best available players, if they are transfers, jucos, or highschool.

Fred is not a "system coach" either. He will get the best players he can, and adjust the playing style to what he has.

What he did this year, with this team, was very impressive. He went through some growing pains, but he did a great job. Now, the secret is to have talent. He has shown that he can get good players to come to Ames.

I would think that, since you are considered a Cyclone fan by the mouth breathers on hn anyways, you would spend your time educating those one branchers on what is really happening at Iowa State...

Like you said, I'm well aware Hoiberg is bringing in four freshmen. He got the jump-start he was looking for with the transfers, and can now focus primarily on bringing in freshman talent.

I have really zero doubt ISU wins again next season. ISU is still quite a bit more talented than Iowa is.

despite widespread damnation from the Hawkeye media, Hawkeye fans, and media nationally, Hoiberg's 'transfer' experiment was a smashing success so far.

Where are all the apologies? LMAO.

Fred can pick and choose a transfer or two out of the 300-400 that seek another home every year. Pick and choose will land another elite player, because Fred's reputation in this area is spotless

Of oourse, I won't mention Fran's attempt last June that is now swept under the Hawkeye rug---which was a complete disaster

That^ is quite possibly the stupidest post of the year. Both MBB programs are quickly headed in the right direction. But when's the last time Iowa and ISU were both very good football programs at the same time? If it's ever happened, it was a long-*** time ago.

As for mbb, only a moron Iowa fan would equate their team's 126 RPI, with another in-state schools' 30-something RPI

In the mind of a Hawk fan---both programs will be 'equal' very soon.

Iowa State will be more talented than Iowa for a long, long time. But Iowa will still pull out victories. Behind the constipated face, Fran isn't that bad of a coach.

You're right, I'm sure that ISU actually sucked this year. After all, two years ago, their final RPI was a mighty 117. So they can't POSSIBLY have been an NCAA Tournament team so quickly.

In case you were wondering, "soon" does not necessarily mean "next year". If I meant next year, chances are I would have said that. Clearly, ISU was first out of the gate. But I don't think it's going to be very long before this rivalry is actually a big deal outside of the state.
 
Hoks aren't going to be too good in the next few yrs.....losing gatens is going to be brutal....that guy is really good.
Gesell is good, Woodbury needs some work. Hawks will b alright but not nearly to our level.
