Notes:

Cyclones are 11-12 in the NCAA Tournament since 1985.
Cyclones are 7-2 as the higher seeded team, and 4-10 as the lower seeded team.

Iowa State has never been a 1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15 or 16 seed.
Iowa State has never played a 13, 14 or 16 seed.

Cyclones are just 2-8 against top 5 seeds.
Cyclones are 8-3 against teams seed 7 or lower.

Iowa State is 4-1 against non-power conference schools - only loss to Hampton.
Cyclones are 2-1 versus the SEC - beat Florida and Auburn, lost to Kentucky.
Iowa State is 2-2 against the Big Ten - losing twice to States and beat both U of M.
Cyclones are 2-4 versus the current Pac 12 with 4 of those against UCLA (1-3).
Iowa State is 1-0 against the Big East - only game vs. Cincinnati.
Cyclones are 0-4 versus the ACC - losing twice to UNC, along with GT and NC State.

So our most probable scenario is 1-1 in NCAA. That is why I was hoping we might play 3 games in the B12 tournament because 52 teams will be gone by the end of the first weekend.

Still would like to know how in the hell we lost to freaking Hampton.

That team was completely out of gas by the end of the year. Don't forget that they also lost, as the #1 seed in the Big 12 tourney, to #8 Baylor.

Didn't LE also privately -- or maybe not so privately -- suspect that Tinsley was shaving points because of some unsavory side business?

I think it may have been Oklahoma and not Baylor, last night I think I remember the announcers saying that no team from Texas had won the Big 12 Tournament yet.

It was Baylor. I was there. It was the first time the 1 seed had lost a first round game in the B12 tournament. As tejasclone said, that ISU team had nothing in the tank at the end of the season. LE put a ton of emphasis on winning the conference regular season crown and while having that hardware for the 2nd consecutive year was cool, it set us up for the heartache that would ensue.

Simple really After losing to baylor in the first game of the big 12 tourney the team did NOT show up at boise idaho and took hampton lightly and then came on at the end of the game and tinsley missed a layup which would have won the game..

Thats the way I remember it anyway....

When I State doesnt show up we usually lose a close game just like last nite...

Thanks guys, I was young at the time so I don't remember all of the details just remember it burned.
