FSU NEEDS to jump to a big money conference. They are in a recruiting hot bed, but are surrounded by all the SEC's big money programs. They cannot compete against Florida, even there, if they are getting $15 million while the Gators get $30. The same can be said for ANY ACC school that believes it has a program capable of winning a national championship in football. Resources matter, and the Big East and ACC's dependence on basketball cannot bring home the bacon.

IMO, the "rumors" flying about the ACC are an attempt to get their already outdated TV contract renegotiated. Getting Pitt and Syracuse was the first move and evidently they are doing more to stir up ESPN.

STILLWATER, Okla. -- The chairman of the Big 12's board of directors says the conference has agreed to terms with Texas A&M and Missouri on the schools' exit penalties but the league's members must still give final approval.

Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis said Friday that the schools agreed to the terms "long before" West Virginia's entry into the conference was finalized this month.

The university's board of regents voted Friday to grant Hargis power to execute final settlements, and he says every conference member must take a similar step before the arrangements are finalized.

Hargis refused to comment on terms. League bylaws call for 90 percent of the schools' payouts over the next two years to be withheld.

Conference spokesman Bob Burda also confirmed that the settlements had not been finalized.

Scott also said that he agreed with the Big Ten's proposed model of playing semi-final games on the campuses of the schools involved while playing the championship game itself at a neutral location. Scott also supports the idea that only conference champions should be eligible for playing in any sort of playoff format.

With a rule that teams must win more than 6 games to qualify for post season play there is going to be a renewed push to get back to an 8 game league schedule. The TV partners won't like it, but it won't be in the interest of most NCAA schools any longer to continue to toughen up the schedules top to bottom.

I still don't like this rule until everyone is playing 9 conference games. Football is the complete opposite of basketball. ISU bball is getting killed because we didn't beat anyone non conference for our ncaa resume...but in football you can play 4 cupcakes or 4 home games and then beat 3 bottom feeder conference teams and go 3-5 and go bowling at 7-5. I think it would be funny to use Football post season logic in basketball also.

The Iowa Hawkeyes at 15-16 will be a 10 seed in Florida because their fans travel well.
If you really break football down it is a big crock of ....


That being said. I would like 2 more teams. L'ville should be one of them.
BYU, or a remaining Big East School would be fine.

We may be playing 10 league games in the future and only 2 OOC. It is an option on the table (11 team B12).

8 league games is unlikely to ever happen again.

Youre smoking something if you think we have a chance of going to 10 games in conference. It would be suicide for the conference to do that.
