What are your thoughts on this game? I like our chances but we will need to take care of the ball and get some good post touches. Under 12 turnovers and we win.

I went to the Drake game last night......if we can contain Josh Young and followed by a heavy dose of Brackins, ISU will be in a position to get a victory. Drake lives and dies by the 3, so ISU will definitely have to defend the perimeter.

Did I miss something? Have we seen confirmation that Wes is going to use the redshirt this year?

IMO, I think he should. We need him at 100% and it appears we're not going anywhere this year anyway.

No, we have not seen anything confirming it. Just the comment from G-Mac about a medical redshirt being possible.

I think combining that and how much pain he was obviously in Friday night, it's not looking good.

Yeah, I suppose that barring some sort of fantastic recovery, he probably won't be playing after seeing how bad of shape he was in on Friday.

As another poster already stated, they appear to live and die by the 3. Which could be a bad thing for us as it always seems like some unknown player has a career shooting game against us. The good thing is that it appears we won't get out-powered in the lane like we did against UNI. I think we'll be able to control the lane this season against them.

Does Keno Davis use his father's press? ISU had trouble against even Oregon State when the decided to press. We should control the paint, like we did vs. OSU, but if the guards can't get the ball up the court, controling the paint won't matter. This is the biggest game of the year for Drake fans. Holy Cow, I'm starting to sound like Bob Brooks in the CR Gazette!

Anything other than a win will be a disappointment for this game. I know it's stating the obvious, but we we really need to win the rest of our games until the Vegas tourney to keep the momentum going.

It might be disappointing, but this will be a very difficult game for ISU. I'd be inclined to pick against them if it were me.

As much as you might like to believe it, iowa state is most definetely not our biggest game of the year. While we enjoy playing bigger schools such as Iowa state and Iowa, with schools like southern illinois, creighton, and missouri state in our conference the iowa state game is probably closer to the 5th or 6th biggest.

Aw come on. We need to be able to use the "It was their bowl game" excuse if we lose:wink:

Drake's full court pressure for 40 minutes gives them the advantage imo over Petersen and Garrett...the faster Garrett gets a hold of GMac's system the better for the Clones, because right now he is the only player on our team that can penentrate and create shots for other people...he will also be huge for us against Drake's press IF he is in the game. Petersen busts his butt out there, and is one of, if not our best shooter right now, but cannot create shots for others, and is going to struggle against quicker stronger guards pressure all year long. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but I think Drake gets this one. They are a much improved team over previous years, and I hope people judge them by their talent on the court, and not by the name on the front of their jersey's...

Call it whatever you wish. For the coach and team, I'm sure they will say conference games against top competition are more important. But for the majority of Drake fans the ISU rivalry is and has been the top game for 50 years.

Im not quite sure how you (an iowa state fan) can speak with so much authority on games of importance for drakes fan base. Did you take a poll? Perhaps a survey? Ive been a season ticket holder at drake for more than 20 years and regardless of what you may believe ISU is NOT our "top" game.

That being said, it is an important game for DU and probably one of our top OOC games. Playing against the bigger instate schools from major conferences is important for both recruiting and exposure both instate and out.
