Royce White getting NBA attention

If he is a lock for the first round I think he's gone. They draft so much more on "upside" anymore that someone would draft him and hope he develops a consistent jump shot.

We would love for him to stay, but I can't blame him if he would leave.

I didn't see it at the beginning of the year, but Royce's play has just continued to improve as the competition has gotten stiffer. I still think he will stay due to his personality and having unfinished business here, but I definitely can see him skyrocketing up the boards by the end of the year.

What does this year's overall draft class look like anyway? Strong or weak in comparison to past years?

Strongest in years, it's basically one and half draft classes due to all the guys who came back to college to avoid the lockout last year. Especially deep at the 4 spot too.

Looking ahead obviously but this may be the thing that takes us from being a NCAA bubble team without Royce next year to a potential Sweet 16/Elite 8 type team with him.

I think if Royce were a bit taller and/or had zero character/behavior questions, teams would easily gamble that he can develop midrange game and free throw shooting.

I just don't see him being a first round pick when he's short for an NBA #4 and teams will see question marks about his character giving him that much money. ISU fans have embraced him and love him, but NBA teams will see a kid who got in trouble with the law, released some weird youtube videos, transferred before playing a game at Minnesota, and has an anxiety disorder.

I'm not bashing him, it seems he has overcome all that and it's awesome. But these NBA teams would be putting a lot of faith in a lot of things. It's not just about him being a top 30 player in college, it's about being a top 25 American player investment because there are a lot of near sure things in the international game now that have been tested in an environment more like pro sports.

One more successful year on and off the court could erase both or one of those areas of doubt.

Why does everyone think Royce doesn't have a mid range jumper? He sure seems to make alot of them when he does shoot it. Why shoot a 15 footer when he can get a 1 foot shot by using his strength?

I think his free throws are more of a mental thing. Man I hope he doesn't leave after this year, we could be crazy good next year. If he does go, at least we got to see him play in a cyclone uniform.

If Royce comes back, and all the team loses is Allen and SC with solid transfer and freshman talent coming in...it will be really funny to see all the joke publications pick ISU 5th and 6th when ISU would clearly be a top 2 preseason team in the conference, 3rd at worst.

Because he doesn't.

That is a very deep team. Why would Royce not want to stay?

Call me crazy, but I think Niang has a good chance at taking Ejim's starting spot.

Because of all the bones, or clams, or whatever you call them.

It may make a difference that this draft class is pretty loaded.

This. It's a deep draft, and if he isn't a lock to go in the first round then he'll probably stick around for another season. Then again, if he continues to make leaps and bounds with every game he plays then he'll be a guaranteed lottery pick by the time our NCAA tourney run ends.
