Did anyone catch the frustration face Freddie gave to Royce White (maybe not directed at him, perhaps to the team..)? When he called a TO and the team was gathering up chairs on the court. Freddie took away the ball from Royce White to give/bounce the ball back to the ref - seemed like his way of venting. Absolutely LOVED it!

Freddie puts every other coach Iowa State ever had since LE to shame!

aw, come on man, we tried!

He knows this team has the tools to win, so he obviously expects more.

Seems like last year he held back his emotions. This year he has a little fire. I love it!

What is funny, though, is that when we won the game and I was going crazy at home, he calmly walks over to the K-State bench for postgame formalities. My wife looks at me and says "It looks like he isn't even excited!" I blamed it on his heart condition! Freddie is just a cool customer is all...

He was the same way after the KU win. I loved his locker room talk after the KU game. He calmly told the guys that we should expect to win those games.

I wish we gave them at least one more year. I might have said or thought differently at the time but Wayne was a good recruiter and a good coach, if not a great coach.
Never had a losing record while at ISU. Made post season two out of three years. With a 55-39 overall record. Not bad at all.

I guess if all you look at is W/L but I think it would be a stretch to say Morgan was good coach. What and how did he leave the program? Greg took over a cluster (and admittedly left another cluster). It makes what Fred has done in just two years that much more impressive.

I liked Wayne not only because he was a decent coach and did fairly well at ISU in his time here, but also because he reminds me of Carl Winslow and talked a little like Mike Tyson.

And Freddie had ABSOLUTELY no head coaching or coaching experience anywhere!

Wayne was a player's coach. Dougie was not at all. I think Freddie has a perfect balance. That alone makes Freddie's emotion so much more legit and within reason.
Maybe he changed at CU and was different at UNI, but I did detect him relating much to his players. He was dictating so many orders during games that it was not a relaxed atmosphere. Without DG, he would have been in a tough situation the last two years.

The HD version of the game aired the frustration. I don't know if CTN broadcast cut out that part or not. I hope there's an archieved version that ISU keeps on cyclone multimedia that we can rewatch. It was during one of our full time-outs.
