The Chicago
Cubs added veteran left-handed reliever
Trever Miller to their eclectic pitching mix Monday, signing him to a minor league deal with an invitation to
spring training.
Miller, 38, pitched for three teams last season, including
Theo Epstein’s Boston
Red Sox at the end. Epstein is now with the Cubs and will pay Miller a reported $800,000, according to
ESPN.
Epstein has signed a mix of veteran pitchers and traded for several young ones. One of those trades sent bullpen lefty
Sean Marshall to the Cincinnati
Reds and the signing of Miller could help offset the loss.
The Cubs will be the ninth major-league team for Miller, who has become a situational left-hander in recent years.
