ISU has moved up to #34. Loss to Texas doesn't look so bad as KenPom has them at #20. Based purely on his rankings, it would seem that the B12 has a strong case for getting get six teams in the tournament.

2012 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings

Rankings for B12 Teams:
4. KU
8. MU
9. Baylor
20. Texas
24. KSU
34. ISU
76. OU
112. OSU
113. aTm

Doesn't losing to Iowa subtract 100 points? He needs to proof his spreadsheet.

What a hack. Sconnie, St. Louis, and Wichita State in the Top 15? Even Texas in no way deserves to be 20th.

Wisconsin at #2? Somewhere in the formula it must say "Big 10 +100 pts"

Those points must be deducted from Big East teams--I'm not some BE fanboy, but I'm pretty sure that UConn and Notre Dame should be higher than 40th and 63rd, respectively.

What if I were to tell you a better "Kenpom" type of computer ranking has been around longer and it replaces those rankings with:

Wisc, #6 instead of #2 (still kind of crazy)
St. Louis, #23 instead of #14
Wichita State, #15 instead of #12
Texas, #30 instead of #20

Would you agree with the groupthink that Kenpom is the most awesome computer ranking ever if I told you this?

CU #9 and ISU #49

Sagarin

CU #17 and ISU #41

Kenpom

CU #27 and ISU #34

I think the latter two polls have margin of victory and defeat cranked into the formula more as we have not been beaten worse than 10 points all season and we have had a couple of good 20 point road victories.

Someone should take a poll of which poll is best.

Sagarin? So, it sounds like this KenPom dude takes an index, makes some minor tweaks, and passes it off as his own in the hopes of becoming the next great college basketball analyst...

His rankings are only slightly different than Sagarin's predictor component. Sagarin's ELO_CHESS component balances out the crazy parts of that and Kenpom apparently doesn't think his formula needs to. There's a ton of info on his site, but for actually ranking the teams in a logical way, I have no idea why people look to his site as the bible.

Kenpom said big time losing record Iowa was one spot better than .500 ISU last year (#80 and #81). Sagarin had ISU ahead of Iowa by something like 35 spots but also ranked in the 80s.
